1 Y vino a mí la palabra del SEÑOR en el año noveno, el mes décimo, a los diez días del mes, diciendo:

2 Hijo de hombre, escribe la fecha del día, del día de hoy. Este mismo día el rey de Babilonia ha avanzado contra Jerusalén.

3 Relata una parábola a la casa rebelde y diles: "Así dice el Señor DIOS: "Pon la olla, ponla, y echa también en ella agua;

4 pon en ella los trozos, todo trozo bueno, pierna y espalda; llénala de huesos escogidos.

5 'Toma lo mejor del rebaño, y apila también la leña debajo de ella; hazla hervir a borbotones, cuece también sus huesos en ella.'

6 "Porque así dice el Señor DIOS: "¡Ay de la ciudad sanguinaria, de la olla que tiene herrumbre, cuya herrumbre no se le va! Trozo por trozo sácala, sin echar suertes sobre ella.

7 'Porque su sangre está en medio de ella, la puso sobre la roca desnuda; no la derramó sobre la tierra para que el polvo la cubriera.

8 'Para hacer subir el furor, para tomar venganza, he puesto yo su sangre sobre la roca desnuda, para que no sea cubierta.'

9 "Por tanto, así dice el Señor DIOS: "¡Ay de la ciudad sanguinaria! Yo también haré grande el montón de leña.

10 'Aumenta la leña, enciende el fuego, hierve bien la carne, mézclale las especias, y que se quemen los huesos.

11 'Luego pon la olla vacía sobre las brasas, para que se caliente, se ponga al rojo su bronce, se funda en ella su inmundicia, y sea consumida su herrumbre.

12 'De trabajos me ha fatigado, y no se le ha ido su mucha herrumbre. ¡Consúmase en el fuego su herrumbre!

13 'En tu inmundicia hay lujuria. Por cuanto yo quise limpiarte pero no te dejaste limpiar, no volverás a ser purificada de tu inmundicia, hasta que yo haya saciado mi furor sobre ti.

14 'Yo, el SEÑOR, he hablado. Esto viene y yo actuaré; no me volveré atrás, no me apiadaré y no me arrepentiré. Según tus caminos y según tus obras te juzgaré'declara el Señor DIOS."

15 Y vino a mí la palabra del SEÑOR, diciendo:

16 Hijo de hombre, he aquí, voy a quitarte de golpe el encanto de tus ojos; pero no te lamentarás, ni llorarás, ni correrán tus lágrimas.

17 Gime en silencio, no hagas duelo por los muertos; átate el turbante, ponte el calzado en los pies y no te cubras los bigotes ni comas pan de duelo .

18 Y hablé al pueblo por la mañana, y por la tarde murió mi mujer; y a la mañana siguiente hice como me fue mandado.

19 Y el pueblo me dijo: ¿No nos declararás lo que significan para nosotros estas cosas que estás haciendo?

20 Entonces les respondí: La palabra del SEÑOR vino a mí, diciendo:

21 "Habla a la casa de Israel: 'Así dice el Señor DIOS: "He aquí, voy a profanar mi santuario, orgullo de vuestra fuerza, encanto de vuestros ojos y deleite de vuestra alma; y vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas a quienes habéis dejado detrás, caerán a espada.

22 "Haréis como yo he hecho; no cubriréis vuestros bigotes ni comeréis pan de duelo.

23 "Vuestros turbantes estarán sobre vuestras cabezas y vuestro calzado en vuestros pies. No os lamentaréis ni lloraréis, sino que os pudriréis en vuestras iniquidades y gemiréis unos con otros.

24 "Os servirá, pues, Ezequiel de señal; según todo lo que él ha hecho, haréis vosotros; cuando esto suceda, sabréis que yo soy el Señor DIOS.'"

25 "Y tú, hijo de hombre, ¿no será que el día en que les quite su fortaleza, el gozo de su gloria, el encanto de sus ojos, el anhelo de su alma, y a sus hijos y a sus hijas,

26 en ese día el que escape vendrá a ti con noticias para tus oídos?

27 "En ese día se abrirá tu boca para el que escapó, y hablarás y dejarás de estar mudo. Y servirás para ellos de señal, y sabrán que yo soy el SEÑOR."

The Message Bible MSG

1 The Message of God came to me in the ninth year, the tenth month, and the tenth day of the month:

2 "Son of man, write down this date. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day.

3 Tell this company of rebels a story: "'Put on the soup pot. Fill it with water.

4 Put chunks of meat into it, all the choice pieces - loin and brisket. Pick out the best soup bones

5 from the best of the sheep in the flock. Pile wood beneath the pot. Bring it to a boil and cook the soup.

6 "'God, the Master, says: "'Doom to the city of murder, to the pot thick with scum, thick with a filth that can't be scoured. Empty the pot piece by piece; don't bother who gets what.

7 "'The blood from murders has stained the whole city; Blood runs bold on the street stones, with no one bothering to wash it off -

8 Blood out in the open to public view to provoke my wrath, to trigger my vengeance.

9 "'Therefore, this is what God, the Master, says: "'Doom to the city of murder! I, too, will pile on the wood.

10 Stack the wood high, light the match, Cook the meat, spice it well, pour out the broth, and then burn the bones.

11 Then I'll set the empty pot on the coals and heat it red-hot so the bronze glows, So the germs are killed and the corruption is burned off.

12 But it's hopeless. It's too far gone. The filth is too thick.

13 "'Your encrusted filth is your filthy sex. I wanted to clean you up, but you wouldn't let me. I'll make no more attempts at cleaning you up until my anger quiets down.

14 I, God, have said it, and I'll do it. I'm not holding back. I've run out of compassion. I'm not changing my mind. You're getting exactly what's coming to you. Decree of God, the Master.'"

15 God's Message came to me:

16 "Son of man, I'm about to take from you the delight of your life - a real blow, I know. But, please, no tears.

17 Keep your grief to yourself. No public mourning. Get dressed as usual and go about your work - none of the usual funeral rituals."

18 I preached to the people in the morning. That evening my wife died. The next morning I did as I'd been told.

19 The people came to me, saying, "Tell us why you're acting like this. What does it mean, anyway?"

20 So I told them, "God's Word came to me, saying,

21 'Tell the family of Israel, This is what God, the Master, says: I will desecrate my Sanctuary, your proud impregnable fort, the delight of your life, your heart's desire. The children you left behind will be killed.

22 "'Then you'll do exactly as I've done. You'll perform none of the usual funeral rituals.

23 You'll get dressed as usual and go about your work. No tears. But your sins will eat away at you from within and you'll groan among yourselves.

24 Ezekiel will be your example. The way he did it is the way you'll do it. "'When this happens you'll recognize that I am God, the Master.'''

25 "And you, son of man: The day I take away the people's refuge, their great joy, the delight of their life, what they've most longed for, along with all their children

26 - on that very day a survivor will arrive and tell you what happened to the city.

27 You'll break your silence and start talking again, talking to the survivor. Again, you'll be an example for them. And they'll recognize that I am God."
