1 Y vino a mí la palabra del SEÑOR, diciendo:

2 Hijo de hombre, di al príncipe de Tiro: "Así dice el Señor DIOS: "Aun cuando tu corazón se ha enaltecido y has dicho: "Un dios soy, sentado estoy en el trono de los dioses, en el corazón de los mares", no eres más que un hombre y no Dios, aunque hayas igualado tu corazón al corazón de Dios.

3 'He aquí, tú eres más sabio que Daniel; ningún secreto te es oculto.

4 'Con tu sabiduría y tu entendimiento has adquirido riquezas para ti, y has adquirido oro y plata para tus tesoros.

5 'Con tu gran sabiduría, con tu comercio, has aumentado tus riquezas, y se ha enaltecido tu corazón a causa de tus riquezas.

6 'Por lo cual, así dice el Señor DIOS: "Por cuanto has igualado tu corazón al corazón de Dios,

7 por tanto, he aquí, traeré sobre ti extranjeros, los más crueles de entre las naciones. Y ellos desenvainarán sus espadas contra la hermosura de tu sabiduría y profanarán tu esplendor.

8 "Te harán bajar al sepulcro, y morirás con la muerte de los que mueren en el corazón de los mares.

9 "¿Dirás aún: 'Un dios soy', en presencia de tu verdugo, tú que eres un hombre y no Dios, en manos de los que te hieren?

10 "Con la muerte de los incircuncisos morirás a manos de extraños, porque yo he hablado"declara el Señor DIOS.'"

11 Y vino a mí la palabra del SEÑOR, diciendo:

12 Hijo de hombre, eleva una elegía sobre el rey de Tiro y dile: "Así dice el Señor DIOS: "Tú eras el sello de la perfección, lleno de sabiduría y perfecto en hermosura.

13 'En el Edén estabas, en el huerto de Dios; toda piedra preciosa era tu vestidura: el rubí, el topacio y el diamante, el berilo, el ónice y el jaspe, el zafiro, la turquesa y la esmeralda; y el oro, la hechura de tus engastes y de tus encajes, estaba en ti. El día que fuiste creado fueron preparados.

14 'Tú, querubín protector de alas desplegadas, yo te puse allí. Estabas en el santo monte de Dios, andabas en medio de las piedras de fuego.

15 'Perfecto eras en tus caminos desde el día que fuiste creado hasta que la iniquidad se halló en ti.

16 'A causa de la abundancia de tu comercio te llenaste de violencia, y pecaste; yo, pues, te he expulsado por profano del monte de Dios, y te he eliminado, querubín protector, de en medio de las piedras de fuego.

17 'Se enalteció tu corazón a causa de tu hermosura; corrompiste tu sabiduría a causa de tu esplendor. Te arrojé en tierra, te puse delante de los reyes, para que vieran en ti un ejemplo.

18 'Por la multitud de tus iniquidades, por la injusticia de tu comercio, profanaste tus santuarios. Y yo he sacado fuego de en medio de ti, que te ha consumido; y te he reducido a ceniza sobre la tierra a los ojos de todos los que te miran.

19 'Todos los que entre los pueblos te conocen están asombrados de ti; te has convertido en terrores, y ya no serás más.'"

20 Y vino a mí la palabra del SEÑOR, diciendo:

21 Hijo de hombre, pon tu rostro hacia Sidón, profetiza contra ella,

22 y di: "Así dice el Señor DIOS: "He aquí, estoy contra ti, Sidón, y seré glorificado en medio de ti; y sabrán que yo soy el SEÑOR, cuando ejecute juicios en ella, y manifieste en ella mi santidad.

23 'Enviaré a ella pestilencia y sangre a sus calles; los heridos caerán en medio de ella por la espada que está sobre ella por todos lados; y sabrán que yo soy el SEÑOR.

24 'Y no habrá más zarza punzante ni espina dolorosa para la casa de Israel de ninguno de los que la rodean y la desprecian; y sabrán que yo soy el Señor DIOS.'

25 "Así dice el Señor DIOS: 'Cuando yo recoja a la casa de Israel de los pueblos donde está dispersa, y manifieste en ellos mi santidad a los ojos de las naciones, entonces habitarán en su tierra que di a mi siervo Jacob.

26 'Y habitarán en ella seguros; edificarán casas, plantarán viñas, y habitarán seguros, cuando yo haga juicios sobre todos los que a su alrededor la desprecian. Y sabrán que yo soy el SEÑOR su Dios.'"

1 God's Message came to me,

2 "Son of man, tell the prince of Tyre, 'This is what God, the Master, says: "'Your heart is proud, going around saying, "I'm a god. I sit on God's divine throne, ruling the sea" - You, a mere mortal, not even close to being a god, A mere mortal trying to be a god.

3 Look, you think you're smarter than Daniel. No enigmas can stump you.

4 Your sharp intelligence made you world-wealthy. You piled up gold and silver in your banks.

5 You used your head well, worked good deals, made a lot of money. But the money has gone to your head, swelled your head - what a big head!

6 "'Therefore, God, the Master, says: "'Because you're acting like a god, pretending to be a god,

7 I'm giving fair warning: I'm bringing strangers down on you, the most vicious of all nations. They'll pull their swords and make hash of your reputation for knowing it all. They'll puncture the balloon of your god-pretensions.

8 They'll bring you down from your self-made pedestal and bury you in the deep blue sea.

9 Will you protest to your assassins, "You can't do that! I'm a god"? To them you're a mere mortal. They're killing a man, not a god.

10 You'll die like a stray dog, killed by strangers -

11 Because I said so. Decree of God, the Master.'"

12 "Son of man, raise a funeral song over the king of Tyre. Tell him, A Message from God, the Master: "You had everything going for you.

13 You were in Eden, God's garden. You were dressed in splendor, your robe studded with jewels: Carnelian, peridot, and moonstone, beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald, all in settings of engraved gold. A robe was prepared for you the same day you were created.

14 You were the anointed cherub. I placed you on the mountain of God. You strolled in magnificence among the stones of fire.

15 From the day of your creation you were sheer perfection... and then imperfection - evil! - was detected in you.

16 In much buying and selling you turned violent, you sinned! I threw you, disgraced, off the mountain of God. I threw you out - you, the anointed angel-cherub. No more strolling among the gems of fire for you!

17 Your beauty went to your head. You corrupted wisdom by using it to get worldly fame. I threw you to the ground, sent you sprawling before an audience of kings and let them gloat over your demise.

18 By sin after sin after sin, by your corrupt ways of doing business, you defiled your holy places of worship. So I set a fire around and within you. It burned you up. I reduced you to ashes. All anyone sees now when they look for you is ashes, a pitiful mound of ashes.

19 All who once knew you now throw up their hands: 'This can't have happened! This has happened!'"

20 God's Message came to me:

21 "Son of man, confront Sidon. Preach against it.

22 Say, 'Message from God, the Master: "'Look! I'm against you, Sidon. I intend to be known for who I truly am among you.' They'll know that I am God when I set things right and reveal my holy presence.

23 I'll order an epidemic of disease there, along with murder and mayhem in the streets. People will drop dead right and left, as war presses in from every side. Then they'll realize that I mean business, that I am God.

24 "No longer will Israel have to put up with their thistle-and-thorn neighbors Who have treated them so contemptuously. And they also will realize that I am God."

25 God, the Master, says, "When I gather Israel from the peoples among whom they've been scattered and put my holiness on display among them with all the nations looking on, then they'll live in their own land that I gave to my servant Jacob.

26 They'll live there in safety. They'll build houses. They'll plant vineyards, living in safety. Meanwhile, I'll bring judgment on all the neighbors who have treated them with such contempt. And they'll realize that I am God."
