1 Poi Abrahamo prese un’altra moglie, per nome Ketura.

5 Then again Avraham took an isha, and her shem was Keturah.
2 E questa gli partorì Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Madian, Jishbak e Shuach.

And she bore him Zimran, and Yokshan, and Medan, and Midyan, and Yishbak, and Shuach.
3 Jokshan generò Sceba e Dedan. I figliuoli di Dedan furono gli Asshurim, Letushim ed i Leummim.

And Yokshan fathered Sheva, and Dedan. And the bnei Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.
4 E i figliuoli di Madian furono Efa, Efer, Hanoch, Abida ed Eldaa. Tutti questi furono i figliuoli di Ketura.

And the bnei Midyan; Ephah, and Epher, and Chanoch, and Avida, and Eldaah. All these were the bnei Keturah.
5 E Abrahamo dette tutto quello che possedeva a Isacco;

And Avraham gave all that he had unto Yitzchak.
6 ma ai figliuoli delle sue concubine fece dei doni, e, mentre era ancora in vita, li mandò lungi dal suo figliuolo Isacco, verso levante, nel paese d’oriente.

But unto the bnei hapilageshim (sons of the concubines), which Avraham had, Avraham gave mattanot, and sent them away from Yitzchak bno, while he yet lived, eastward, unto eretz kedem.
7 Or tutto il tempo della vita d’Abrahamo fu di centosettanta cinque anni.

And these are the days of the years of Avraham’s life which he lived, a hundred threescore and fifteen shanim.
8 Poi Abrahamo spirò in prospera vecchiezza, attempato e sazio di giorni, e fu riunito al suo popolo.

Then Avraham breathed his last, and died in a good old age, a zaken, full of years; and was gathered to his people.
9 E Isacco e Ismaele, suoi figliuoli, io seppellirono nella spelonca di Macpela nel campo di Efron figliuolo di Tsoar lo Hitteo, ch’è dirimpetto a Mamre:

And his banim Yitzchak and Yishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the sadeh of Ephron ben Tzochar the Chitti, which is near Mamre;
10 campo, che Abrahamo avea comprato dai figliuoli di Heth. Quivi furon sepolti Abrahamo e Sara sua moglie.

The sadeh which Avraham purchased of the bnei Chet, there was Avraham buried, and Sarah his wife.
11 E dopo la morte d’Abrahamo, Iddio benedisse Isacco figliuolo di lui; e Isacco dimorò presso il pozzo di Lachai-Roi.

And it came to pass after the mot Avraham, that Elohim blessed Yitzchak bno; and Yitzchak dwelt near Be’er Lachai Roi.
12 Or questi sono i discendenti d’Ismaele, figliuolo d’Abrahamo, che Agar, l’Egiziana, serva di Sara, avea partorito ad Abrahamo.

Now these are the toldot Yishmael ben Avraham, whom Hagar the Egyptian, shifchat Sarah, bore unto Avraham:
13 Questi sono i nomi de’ figliuoli d’Ismaele, secondo le loro generazioni: Nebaioth, il primogenito d’Ismaele; poi Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

And these are the shemot bnei Yishmael, by their shemot, according to their toldot: the bechor of Yishmael, Nevayot; and Kedar, and Adbe’el, and Mivsam,
14 Mishma, Duma, Massa, Hadar, Tema, Jethur,

And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,
15 Nafish e Kedma.

Chadad, and Tema, Yetur, Naphish, and Kedmah:
16 Questi sono i figliuoli d’Ismaele, e questi i loro nomi, secondo i loro villaggi e i loro accampamenti. Furono i dodici capi dei loro popoli.

These are the bnei Yishmael, and these are their shemot, by their settlement, and by their camps; twelve nasiim (princes, rulers) according to their tribes.
17 E gli anni della vita d’Ismaele furono centotrenta sette; poi spirò, morì, e fu riunito al suo popolo.

And these are the years of the life of Yishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven shanah; and he breathed his last and died; and was gathered unto his people.
18 E i suoi figliuoli abitarono da Havila fino a Shur, ch’è dirimpetto all’Egitto, andando verso l’Assiria. Egli si stabilì di faccia a tutti i suoi fratelli.

And they dwelt from Chavilah unto Shur, that is near Mitzrayim, as thou goest toward Assyria; they took their place east of their brethren.
19 E questi sono i discendenti d’Isacco, figliuolo d’Abrahamo.

And these are the toldot of Yitzchak ben Avraham: Avraham fathered Yitzchak;
20 Abrahamo generò Isacco; e Isacco era in età di quarant’anni quando prese per moglie Rebecca, figliuola di Bethuel, l’Arameo di Paddan-Aram, e sorella di Labano, l’Arameo.

And Yitzchak was arba’im shanah when he took Rivkah as his wife, the bat Betuel the Aramean of Padan Aram, the achot Lavan the Aramean.
21 Isacco pregò istantemente l’Eterno per sua moglie, perch’ella era sterile. L’Eterno l’esaudì, e Rebecca, sua moglie, concepì.

And Yitzchak davened to Hashem on behalf of his isha, because she was barren; and Hashem was entreated of him, and Rivkah his isha conceived.
22 E i bambini si urtavano nel suo seno; ed ella disse: "Se così è, perché vivo?" E andò a consultare l’Eterno.

And the banim struggled jostling within her; and she said, If it be well, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of Hashem.
23 E l’Eterno le disse: "Due nazioni sono nel tuo seno, e due popoli separati usciranno dalle tue viscere. Uno dei due popoli sarà più forte dell’altro, e il maggiore servirà il minore".

And Hashem said unto her, Two goyim (nations) are in thy womb, and two peoples shall be separated from within thee; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the older shall serve the younger.
24 E quando venne per lei il tempo di partorire, ecco ch’ella aveva due gemelli nel seno.

And when her days were fulfilled to be delivered, hinei, there were twins in her womb.
25 E il primo che uscì fuori era rosso, e tutto quanto come un mantello di pelo; e gli fu posto nome Esaù.

And the first came out admoni (red) all over like a hairy garment; and they called shmo Esav.
26 Dopo uscì il suo fratello, che con la mano teneva il calcagno di Esaù; e gli fu posto nome Giacobbe. Or Isacco era in età di sessant’anni quando Rebecca li partorì.

And after that came out his brother, and his yad was grasping on akev Esav; and shmo was called Ya’akov; and Yitzchak was threescore shanah when she bore them.
27 I due fanciulli crebbero, ed Esaù divenne un esperto cacciatore, un uomo di campagna, e Giacobbe un uomo tranquillo, che se ne stava nelle tende.

And the nearim grew: and Esav was a skilled hunter, an ish sadeh; and Ya’akov was an ish tam (quiet man), dwelling in ohalim.
28 Or Isacco amava Esaù, perché la cacciagione era di suo gusto; e Rebecca amava Giacobbe.

And Yitzchak loved Esav, because he did eat of his wild game; but Rivkah loved Ya’akov.
29 Or come Giacobbe s’era fatto cuocere una minestra, Esaù giunse dai campi, tutto stanco.

And Ya’akov cooked stew: and Esav came from the sadeh, and he was famished.
30 Ed Esaù disse a Giacobbe: "Deh, dammi da mangiare un po’ di cotesta minestra rossa; perché sono stanco". Per questo fu chiamato Edom.

And Esav said to Ya’akov, Let me eat now some of the adom (red stew); for I am famished; therefore was shmo called Edom.
31 E Giacobbe gli rispose: "Vendimi prima di tutto la tua primogenitura".

And Ya’akov said, First sell me today thy bechorah (birthright, right of the firstborn).
32 Ed Esaù disse: "Ecco io sto per morire; che mi giova la primogenitura?"

And Esav said, Hinei, I am at the point of death; and what profit shall this bechorah do to me?
33 E Giacobbe disse: "Prima, giuramelo". Ed Esaù glielo giurò, e vendé la sua primogenitura a Giacobbe.

And Ya’akov said, Swear to me this day; and he swore unto him; and he sold his bechorah unto Ya’akov.
34 E Giacobbe diede a Esaù del pane e della minestra di lenticchie. Ed egli mangiò e bevve; poi si levò, e se ne andò. Così Esaù sprezzò la primogenitura.

Then Ya’akov gave Esav lechem and adashim (lentils) stew; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way; thus Esav despised his bechorah.
