1 Iddio disse a Giacobbe: "Lèvati, vattene a Bethel, dimora quivi, e fa’ un altare all’Iddio che ti apparve, quando fuggivi dinanzi al tuo fratello Esaù".

5 And Elohim said unto Ya’akov, Arise, go up to Beit-El, and settle there; and make there a Mizbe’ach unto El (G-d) that appeared unto thee when thou didst flee from the face of Esav achicha.
2 Allora Giacobbe disse alla sua famiglia e a tutti quelli ch’erano con lui: "Togliete gli dèi stranieri che sono fra voi, purificatevi, e cambiatevi i vestiti;

Then Ya’akov said unto his Bais, and to all that were with him, Put away the elohei hanekhar that are among you, and be tahor, and change your simlah (garments);
3 e leviamoci, andiamo a Bethel, ed io farò quivi un altare all’Iddio che mi esaudì nel giorno della mia angoscia, e ch’è stato con me nel viaggio che ho fatto".

And let us arise, and go up to Beit-El; and I will build there a Mizbe’ach unto El (G-d) Who answered me in my yom tzoros, and was with me in the derech in which I went.
4 Ed essi dettero a Giacobbe tutti gli dei stranieri ch’erano nelle loro mani e gli anelli che avevano agli orecchi; e Giacobbe li nascose sotto la quercia ch’è presso a Sichem.

And they gave unto Ya’akov kol elohei hanekhar which were in their yad, and all their nezamim which were in their oznayim; and Ya’akov buried them under the elah (terebinth) which was at Shechem.
5 Poi si partirono; e un terrore mandato da Dio invase le città ch’erano intorno a loro; talché non inseguirono i figliuoli di Giacobbe.

And they journeyed; and the chittat Elohim (terror of G-d) was upon the cities that were around them, and they did not pursue after the Bnei Ya’akov.
6 Così Giacobbe giunse a Luz, cioè Bethel, ch’è nel paese di Canaan: egli con tutta la gente che avea seco;

So Ya’akov came to Luz, which is in Eretz Kena’an, that is, Beit-El, he and kol haAm that were with him.
7 ed edificò quivi un altare, e chiamò quel luogo El-Bethel, perché quivi Iddio gli era apparso, quando egli fuggiva dinanzi al suo fratello.

And he built there a Mizbe’ach, and called the makom (place) El Beit-El; because there HaElohim appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of achiv.
8 Allora morì Debora, balia di Rebecca, e fu sepolta al di sotto di Bethel, sotto la quercia, che fu chiamata Allon-Bacuth.

But Devorah meineket Rivkah died, and she was buried under an alon (oak) below Beit-El; and shmo was called Alon Bachut.
9 Iddio apparve ancora a Giacobbe, quando questi veniva da Paddan-Aram; e lo benedisse.

And Elohim appeared unto Ya’akov again, when he returned from Padan Aram, and made a brocha upon him.
10 E Dio gli disse: "Il tuo nome è Giacobbe; tu non sarai più chiamato Giacobbe, ma il tuo nome sarà Israele". E gli mise nome Israele.

And Elohim said unto him, Shimcha is Ya’akov; shimcha shall not be called any more Ya’akov, but Yisroel shall be shemecha; and He called shmo Yisroel.
11 E Dio gli disse: "Io sono l’Iddio onnipotente; sii fecondo e moltiplica; una nazione, anzi una moltitudine di nazioni discenderà da te, e dei re usciranno dai tuoi lombi;

And Elohim said unto him, I am El Shaddai; be fruitful and multiply; a Goy (nation) and a Kehal Goyim shall be from thee, and Melechim shall come out of thy loins;
12 e darò a te e alla tua progenie dopo di te il paese che detti ad Abrahamo e ad Isacco".

And HaAretz which I gave Avraham and Yitzchak, to thee I will give it, and to thy zera after thee will I give HaAretz.
13 E Dio risalì di presso a lui, dal luogo dove gli avea parlato.

And Elohim went up from him in the makom where He talked with him.
14 E Giacobbe eresse un monumento di pietra nel luogo dove Iddio gli avea parlato; vi fece sopra una libazione e vi sparse su dell’olio.

And Ya’akov set up a matzevah (pillar, monument) in the makom where He talked with him, even a matzevat even (pillar of stone); and he poured a nesech (drink offering) thereon, and he poured shemen (oil) thereon.
15 E Giacobbe chiamò Bethel il luogo dove Dio gli avea parlato.

And Ya’akov called the shem of the makom where Elohim spoke with him, Beit- El.
16 Poi partirono da Bethel; e c’era ancora qualche distanza per arrivare ad Efrata, quando Rachele partorì. Essa ebbe un duro parto;

And they journeyed from Beit-El; and there was still a space of ha’aretz to get to Ephratah; and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labor.
17 e mentre penava a partorire, la levatrice le disse: "Non temere, perché eccoti un altro figliuolo".

And it came to pass, when she was in hard labor, that the meyaledet (midwife) said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this ben also.
18 E com’ella stava per rendere l’anima (perché morì), pose nome al bimbo Ben-Oni; ma il padre lo chiamò Beniamino.

And it came to pass, as her nefesh was in departing, (for she died) that she called shmo Ben-Oni (Son of Affliction); but aviv called him Binyamin.
19 E Rachele morì, e fu sepolta sulla via di Efrata; cioè di Bethlehem.

And Rachel died, and was buried on the derech to Ephratah, which is Beit- Lechem.
20 E Giacobbe eresse un monumento sulla tomba di lei. Questo è il monumento della tomba di Rachele, il quale esiste tuttora.

And Ya’akov set up a matzevah upon her kever; that is matzevet kevurat Rachel to this day.
21 Poi Israele si partì, e piantò la sua tenda al di là di Migdal-Eder.

And Yisroel journeyed, and pitched his ohel beyond Migdal-Eder.
22 E avvenne che, mentre Israele abitava in quel paese, Ruben andò e si giacque con Bilha, concubina di suo padre. E Israele lo seppe.

And it came to pass, when Yisroel dwelt in that land, that Reuven went and lay with Bilhah pilegesh aviv and Yisroel heard it. Now the Bnei Ya’akov were Sheneym Asar (Twelve);
23 Or i figliuoli di Giacobbe erano dodici. I figliuoli di Lea: Ruben, primogenito di Giacobbe, Simeone, Levi, Giuda, Issacar, Zabulon.

The Bnei Leah: Reuven bechor Ya’akov, and Shimon, and Levi, and Yehudah, and Yissakhar, and Zevulun;
24 I figliuoli di Rachele: Giuseppe e Beniamino.

The Bnei Rachel: Yosef, and Binyamin;
25 I figliuoli di Bilha, serva di Rachele: Dan e Neftali.

And the Bnei Bilhah shifchat Rachel: Dan, and Naphtali;
26 I figliuoli di Zilpa, serva di Lea: Gad e Ascer. Questi sono i figliuoli di Giacobbe che gli nacquero in Paddan-Aram.

And the Bnei Zilpah shifchat Leah: Gad, and Asher; these are the Bnei Ya’akov, which were born to him in Padan Aram.
27 E Giacobbe venne da Isacco suo padre a Mamre, a Kiriath-Arba, cioè Hebron, dove Abrahamo e Isacco aveano soggiornato.

And Ya’akov came unto Yitzchak Aviv unto Mamre, unto Kiriat HaArba, which is Chevron, where Avraham and Yitzchak sojourned.
28 E i giorni d’Isacco furono centottant’anni.

And the days of Yitzchak were me’at shanah u’shemonim shanah.
29 E Isacco spirò, morì, e fu raccolto presso il suo popolo, vecchio e sazio di giorni; ed Esaù e Giacobbe, suoi figliuoli, lo seppellirono.

And Yitzchak expired, and died, and was gathered unto his people, being zaken (old) and full of yamim; and his banim Esav and Ya’akov buried him.
