1 Then Jacob called for his sons and said: “Gather around so I can tell you what will happen to you in days to come.
1 Jacob llamó a sus hijos y les dijo: «Reúnanse, que voy a declararles lo que les va a suceder en el futuro:
2 “Assemble and listen, sons of Jacob; listen to your father Israel.
2 »Hijos de Jacob: acérquense y escuchen;presten atención a su padre Israel.
3 “Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, the first sign of my strength, excelling in honor, excelling in power.
3 »Tú, Rubén, eres mi primogénito,primer fruto de mi fuerza y virilidad,primero en honor y en poder.
4 Turbulent as the waters, you will no longer excel, for you went up onto your father’s bed, onto my couch and defiled it.
4 Impetuoso como un torrente,ya no serás el primero:te acostaste en mi cama;profanaste la cama de tu propio padre.
5 “Simeon and Levi are brothers— their swords are weapons of violence.
5 »Simeón y Leví son chacales;sus espadas son instrumentos de violencia.
6 Let me not enter their council, let me not join their assembly, for they have killed men in their anger and hamstrung oxen as they pleased.
6 ¡No quiero participar de sus reuniones,ni arriesgar mi honor en sus asambleas!En su furor mataron hombres,y por capricho mutilaron toros.
7 Cursed be their anger, so fierce, and their fury, so cruel! I will scatter them in Jacob and disperse them in Israel.
7 ¡Malditas sean la violencia de su enojoy la crueldad de su furor!Los dispersaré en el país de Jacob,los desparramaré en la tierra de Israel.
8 “Judah, your brothers will praise you; your hand will be on the neck of your enemies; your father’s sons will bow down to you.
8 »Tú, Judá, serás alabado por tus hermanos;dominarás a tus enemigos,y tus propios hermanos se inclinarán ante ti.
9 You are a lion’s cub, Judah; you return from the prey, my son. Like a lion he crouches and lies down, like a lioness—who dares to rouse him?
9 Mi hijo Judá es como un cachorro de leónque se ha nutrido de la presa.Se tiende al acecho como león,como leona que nadie se atreve a molestar.
10 The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet,until he to whom it belongs shall come and the obedience of the nations shall be his.
10 El cetro no se apartará de Judá,ni de entre sus pies el bastón de mando,hasta que llegue el verdadero rey,quien merece la obediencia de los pueblos.
11 He will tether his donkey to a vine, his colt to the choicest branch; he will wash his garments in wine, his robes in the blood of grapes.
11 Judá amarra su asno a la vid,y la cría de su asno a la mejor cepa;lava su ropa en vino;su manto, en la sangre de las uvas.
12 His eyes will be darker than wine, his teeth whiter than milk.
12 Sus ojos son más oscuros que el vino;sus dientes, más blancos que la leche.
13 “Zebulun will live by the seashore and become a haven for ships; his border will extend toward Sidon.
13 »Zabulón vivirá a la orilla del mar;será puerto seguro para las naves,y sus fronteras llegarán hasta Sidón.
14 “Issachar is a rawboned donkey lying down among the sheep pens.
14 »Isacar es un asno fuerteechado entre dos alforjas.
15 When he sees how good is his resting place and how pleasant is his land, he will bend his shoulder to the burden and submit to forced labor.
15 Al ver que el establo era buenoy que la tierra era agradable,agachó el hombro para llevar la cargay se sometió a la esclavitud.
16 “Dan will provide justice for his people as one of the tribes of Israel.
16 »Dan hará justicia en su pueblo,como una de las tribus de Israel.
17 Dan will be a snake by the roadside, a viper along the path, that bites the horse’s heels so that its rider tumbles backward.
17 Dan es una serpiente junto al camino,una víbora junto al sendero,que muerde los talones del caballoy hace caer de espaldas al jinete.
18 “I look for your deliverance, LORD.
18 »¡SEÑOR, espero tu salvación!
19 “Gad will be attacked by a band of raiders, but he will attack them at their heels.
19 »Las hordas atacan a Gad,pero él las atacará por la espalda.
20 “Asher’s food will be rich; he will provide delicacies fit for a king.
20 »Aser disfrutará de comidas deliciosas;ofrecerá manjares de reyes.
21 “Naphtali is a doe set free that bears beautiful fawns.
21 »Neftalí es una gacela libre,que tiene hermosos cervatillos.
22 “Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine near a spring, whose branches climb over a wall.
22 »José es un retoño fértil,fértil retoño junto al agua,cuyas ramas trepan por el muro.
23 With bitterness archers attacked him; they shot at him with hostility.
23 Los arqueros lo atacaron sin piedad;le tiraron flechas, lo hostigaron.
24 But his bow remained steady, his strong arms stayed limber, because of the hand of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,
24 Pero su arco se mantuvo firme,porque sus brazos son fuertes.¡Gracias al Dios fuerte de Jacob,al Pastor y Roca de Israel!
25 because of your father’s God, who helps you, because of the Almighty, who blesses you with blessings of the skies above, blessings of the deep springs below, blessings of the breast and womb.
25 ¡Gracias al Dios de tu padre, que te ayuda!¡Gracias al Todopoderoso, que te bendice!¡Con bendiciones de lo alto!¡Con bendiciones del abismo!¡Con bendiciones de los pechos y del seno materno!
26 Your father’s blessings are greater than the blessings of the ancient mountains, than the bounty of the age-old hills. Let all these rest on the head of Joseph, on the brow of the prince among his brothers.
26 Son mejores las bendiciones de tu padreque las de los montes de antaño,que la abundancia de las colinas eternas.¡Que descansen estas bendicionessobre la cabeza de José,sobre la frente del escogido entre sus hermanos!
27 “Benjamin is a ravenous wolf; in the morning he devours the prey, in the evening he divides the plunder.”
27 »Benjamín es un lobo rapazque en la mañana devora la presay en la tarde reparte los despojos».
28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father said to them when he blessed them, giving each the blessing appropriate to him.
28 Estas son las doce tribus de Israel, y esto es lo que su padre les dijo cuando impartió a cada una de ellas su bendición.
29 Then he gave them these instructions: “I am about to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
29 Además, Jacob les dio estas instrucciones: «Ya estoy a punto de reunirme con los míos. Entiérrenme junto a mis antepasados, en la cueva que está en el campo de Efrón el hitita.
30 the cave in the field of Machpelah, near Mamre in Canaan, which Abraham bought along with the field as a burial place from Ephron the Hittite.
30 Se trata de la cueva de Macpela, frente a Mamré, en la tierra de Canaán. Está en el campo que Abraham le compró a Efrón el hitita, para que fuera el sepulcro de la familia.
31 There Abraham and his wife Sarah were buried, there Isaac and his wife Rebekah were buried, and there I buried Leah.
31 Allí fueron sepultados Abraham y su esposa Sara, Isaac y su esposa Rebeca, y allí también enterré a Lea.
32 The field and the cave in it were bought from the Hittites. ”
32 Ese campo y su cueva se les compró a los hititas».
33 When Jacob had finished giving instructions to his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed, breathed his last and was gathered to his people.
33 Cuando Jacob terminó de dar estas instrucciones a sus hijos, volvió a acostarse, exhaló el último suspiro, y fue a reunirse con sus antepasados.
