2 "A Dio appartiene il dominio e il terrore: egli fa regnare la pace ne’ suoi luoghi altissimi.

3 Le sue legioni si posson forse contare? Su chi non si leva la sua luce?

4 Come può dunque l’uomo esser giusto dinanzi a Dio? Come può esser puro il nato dalla donna?

5 Ecco, la luna stessa manca di chiarore, e le stelle non son pure agli occhi di lui;

6 quanto meno l’uomo, ch’è un verme, il figliuol d’uomo ch’è un vermicciuolo!"

1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied:

2 “Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven.

3 Can his forces be numbered? On whom does his light not rise?

4 How then can a mortal be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure?

5 If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes,

6 how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot— a human being, who is only a worm!”
