1 Y algunos descendieron de Judea y enseñaban a los hermanos: Si no os circuncidáis conforme al rito de Moisés, no podéis ser salvos.

2 Como Pablo y Bernabé tuvieran gran disensión y debate con ellos, los hermanos determinaron que Pablo y Bernabé, y algunos otros de ellos subieran a Jerusalén a los apóstoles y a los ancianos para tratar esta cuestión.

3 Así que, siendo enviados por la iglesia, pasaron por Fenicia y Samaria, relatando detalladamente la conversión de los gentiles, y causaban gran gozo a todos los hermanos.

4 Cuando llegaron a Jerusalén, fueron recibidos por la iglesia, los apóstoles y los ancianos, e informaron de todo lo que Dios había hecho con ellos.

5 Pero algunos de la secta de los fariseos que habían creído, se levantaron diciendo: Es necesario circuncidarlos y mandarles que guarden la ley de Moisés.

6 Entonces los apóstoles y los ancianos se reunieron para considerar este asunto.

7 Y después de mucho debate, Pedro se levantó y les dijo: Hermanos, vosotros sabéis que en los primeros días Dios escogió de entre vosotros que por mi boca los gentiles oyeran la palabra del evangelio y creyeran.

8 Y Dios, que conoce el corazón, les dio testimonio dándoles el Espíritu Santo, así como también nos lo dio a nosotros;

9 y ninguna distinción hizo entre nosotros y ellos, purificando por la fe sus corazones.

10 Ahora pues, ¿por qué tentáis a Dios poniendo sobre el cuello de los discípulos un yugo que ni nuestros padres ni nosotros hemos podido llevar?

11 Creemos más bien que somos salvos por la gracia del Señor Jesús, de la misma manera que ellos también lo son.

12 Toda la multitud hizo silencio, y escuchaban a Bernabé y a Pablo, que relataban las señales y prodigios que Dios había hecho entre los gentiles por medio de ellos.

13 Cuando terminaron de hablar, Jacobo respondió, diciendo: Escuchadme, hermanos.

14 Simón ha relatado cómo Dios al principio tuvo a bien tomar de entre los gentiles un pueblo para su nombre.

15 Y con esto concuerdan las palabras de los profetas, tal como está escrito:

16 DESPUES DE ESTO VOLVERE, Y REEDIFICARE EL TABERNACULO DE DAVID QUE HA CAIDO. Y REEDIFICARE SUS RUINAS, Y LO LEVANTARE DE NUEVO,

17 PARA QUE EL RESTO DE LOS HOMBRES BUSQUE AL SEÑOR, Y TODOS LOS GENTILES QUE SON LLAMADOS POR MI NOMBRE,

18 DICE EL SEÑOR, QUE HACE SABER TODO ESTO DESDE TIEMPOS ANTIGUOS.

19 Por tanto, yo juzgo que no molestemos a los que de entre los gentiles se convierten a Dios,

20 sino que les escribamos que se abstengan de cosas contaminadas por los ídolos, de fornicación, de lo estrangulado y de sangre.

21 Porque Moisés desde generaciones antiguas tiene en cada ciudad quienes lo prediquen, pues todos los días de reposo es leído en las sinagogas.

22 Entonces pareció bien a los apóstoles y a los ancianos, con toda la iglesia, escoger de entre ellos algunos hombres para enviarlos a Antioquía con Pablo y Bernabé: a Judas, llamado Barsabás, y a Silas, hombres prominentes entre los hermanos,

23 y enviaron esta carta con ellos: Los apóstoles, y los hermanos que son ancianos, a los hermanos en Antioquía, Siria y Cilicia que son de los gentiles, saludos.

24 Puesto que hemos oído que algunos de entre nosotros, a quienes no autorizamos, os han inquietado con sus palabras, perturbando vuestras almas,

25 nos pareció bien, habiendo llegado a un común acuerdo, escoger algunos hombres para enviarlos a vosotros con nuestros amados Bernabé y Pablo,

26 hombres que han arriesgado su vida por el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

27 Por tanto, hemos enviado a Judas y a Silas, quienes también os informarán las mismas cosas verbalmente.

28 Porque pareció bien al Espíritu Santo y a nosotros no imponeros mayor carga que estas cosas esenciales:

29 que os abstengáis de cosas sacrificadas a los ídolos, de sangre, de lo estrangulado y de fornicación. Si os guardáis de tales cosas, bien haréis. Pasadlo bien.

30 Así que ellos, después de ser despedidos, descendieron a Antioquía; y reuniendo a la congregación, entregaron la carta;

31 y cuando la leyeron, se regocijaron por el consuelo que les impartía.

32 Siendo Judas y Silas también profetas, exhortaron y confortaron a los hermanos con un largo mensaje.

33 Y después de pasar allí algún tiempo, fueron despedidos en paz por los hermanos para volver a aquellos que los habían enviado.

34 Pero a Silas le pareció bien quedarse allí.

35 Mas Pablo y Bernabé se quedaron en Antioquía, enseñando y predicando con muchos otros, la palabra del Señor.

36 Después de algunos días Pablo dijo a Bernabé: Volvamos y visitemos a los hermanos en todas las ciudades donde hemos proclamado la palabra del Señor, para ver cómo están.

37 Bernabé quería llevar también con ellos a Juan, llamado Marcos,

38 pero Pablo consideraba que no debían llevar consigo a quien los había desertado en Panfilia y no los había acompañado en la obra.

39 Se produjo un desacuerdo tan grande que se separaron el uno del otro, y Bernabé tomó consigo a Marcos y se embarcó rumbo a Chipre.

40 Mas Pablo escogió a Silas y partió, siendo encomendado por los hermanos a la gracia del Señor.

41 Y viajaba por Siria y Cilicia confirmando a las iglesias.

1 And some men came down from Judaea, and taught brethren, That but ye be circumcised after the law of Moses, ye be not able to be made safe [ye be not able to be saved].

2 Therefore when there was made not a little dissension to Paul and Barnabas against them, they ordained, that Paul and Barnabas, and some others of them, should go up to the apostles and priests in Jerusalem, on this question.

21 For Moses of old times hath in all cities them that preach him in synagogues, whereby each sabbath he is read.

22 Then it pleased to the apostles, and to the elder men [and elder men], with all the church, to choose men of them, and send to Antioch, with Paul and Barnabas, Judas, that was named Barsabas, and Silas, the first men among brethren;

23 and wrote by the hands of them, Apostles and elder brethren to them that be at Antioch, and Syria, and Cilicia, brethren of heathen men, greeting.

24 For we heard that some went out from us, and troubled you with words, and turned upside-down your souls [turning upside-down your souls], to which men we commanded not,

25 it pleased to us gathered into one, to choose men, and send to you, with our most dear-worthy Barnabas and Paul,

26 men that gave their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

27 Therefore we sent Judas and Silas, and they shall tell the same things to you by words.

28 For it is seen to the Holy Ghost and to us, to put to you nothing more of charge, than these needful things,

29 that ye abstain you from the offered things of maumets [that ye abstain you from the offered things of simulacra], and blood strangled, and fornication. From which ye keeping you, shall do well. Fare ye well.

30 Therefore they were let go, and came down to Antioch; and when the multitude was gathered, they took the epistle; [Therefore they dismissed, came down to Antioch; and, when the multitude was gathered, they betook the epistle;]

31 which when they had read, they joyed on the comfort.

32 And Judas and Silas and they, for they were prophets, comforted brethren, and confirmed [them] with full many words. [Forsooth Judas and Silas and they, when they were prophets, with full much word comforted brethren, and confirmed them.]

33 But after that they had been there a little while, they were let go of brethren with peace [they were dismissed, or left, with peace of brethren], to them that had sent them.

35 And Paul and Barnabas dwelt at Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with others many [with many others].

36 But after some days, Paul said to Barnabas, Turn we again, and visit we brethren by all cities [Paul said to Barnabas, We turning again, visit our brethren by all cities], in which we have preached the word of the Lord, how they have them.

37 And Barnabas would take with him John, that was named Mark.

38 But Paul prayed him, that he that departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them into the work, should not be received.

39 And dissension was made, so that they departed atwain. And Barnabas took Mark, and came by boat to Cyprus.

40 And Paul chose Silas, and went forth from the brethren, and was betaken to the grace of God. [Forsooth Paul chose Silas, and went forth, taken to the grace of God from brethren.]

41 And he went by Syria and Cilicia, and confirmed the church, commanding to keep the behests of the apostles and elder men. [+Forsooth he went by Syria and Cilicia, confirming the church, commanding to keep the precepts of the apostles and elder men.]
