1 Palabra que vino a Jeremías del SEÑOR, cuando el rey Sedequías envió a él a Pasur hijo de Malquías, y a Sofonías sacerdote, hijo de Maasías, que le dijeran

2 Pregunta ahora por nosotros al SEÑOR; porque Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia hace guerra contra nosotros. Por ventura el SEÑOR hará con nosotros según todas sus maravillas, y <em>aquel</em> se irá de sobre nosotros

3 Y Jeremías les dijo: Diréis así a Sedequías

4 Así dijo el SEÑOR Dios de Israel: He aquí yo vuelvo <em>atrás</em> las armas de guerra que <em>están</em> en vuestras manos, y con que vosotros peleáis con el rey de Babilonia; y los caldeos que os tienen cercados fuera de la muralla, yo los juntaré en medio de esta ciudad

5 Y pelearé contra vosotros con mano alzada y con brazo fuerte, y con furor, y enojo, e ira grande

6 y heriré <em>a </em>los moradores de esta ciudad; y los hombres y las bestias morirán de pestilencia grande

7 Y después, así dijo el SEÑOR: entregaré a Sedequías rey de Judá, y a sus criados, y al pueblo, y a los que quedaren en la ciudad de la pestilencia, y de la espada, y del hambre, en mano de Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, y en mano de sus enemigos, y en mano de los que buscan sus almas; y <em>él</em> los herirá a filo de espada; no los perdonará, ni los recibirá a merced, ni tendrá de ellos misericordia

8 Y a este pueblo dirás: Así dijo el SEÑOR: He aquí <em>que yo</em> pongo delante de vosotros camino de vida y camino de muerte

9 El que se quedare en esta ciudad, morirá a espada, o de hambre, o pestilencia; mas el que saliere, y se pasare a los caldeos que os tienen cercados, vivirá, y su alma le será por despojo

10 Porque mi rostro he puesto contra esta ciudad para mal, y no para bien, dice el SEÑOR: en mano del rey de Babilonia será entregada, y la quemará a fuego

11 Y a la casa del rey de Judá <em>dirás</em>: Oíd palabra del SEÑOR

12 Casa de David, así dijo el SEÑOR: Juzgad de mañana juicio, y librad al oprimido de mano del opresor; para que mi ira no salga como fuego, y se encienda, y no <em>haya</em> quien apague, por la maldad de vuestras obras

13 He aquí yo contra ti, moradora del valle de la piedra de la llanura, dice el SEÑOR: los que decís: ¿Quién subirá contra nosotros? ¿Y quién entrará en nuestras moradas

14 <em>Yo</em> os visitaré conforme al fruto de vuestras obras, dijo el SEÑOR, y haré encender fuego en su breña, y consumirá todo lo que está alrededor de ella

New International Version NIV

1 The word came to Jeremiah from the LORD when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur son of Malkijah and the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah. They said:

2 “Inquire now of the LORD for us because Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is attacking us. Perhaps the LORD will perform wonders for us as in times past so that he will withdraw from us.”

3 But Jeremiah answered them, “Tell Zedekiah,

4 ‘This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I am about to turn against you the weapons of war that are in your hands, which you are using to fight the king of Babylon and the Babylonians who are outside the wall besieging you. And I will gather them inside this city.

5 I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and a mighty arm in furious anger and in great wrath.

6 I will strike down those who live in this city—both man and beast—and they will die of a terrible plague.

7 After that, declares the LORD, I will give Zedekiah king of Judah, his officials and the people in this city who survive the plague, sword and famine, into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to their enemies who want to kill them. He will put them to the sword; he will show them no mercy or pity or compassion.’

8 “Furthermore, tell the people, ‘This is what the LORD says: See, I am setting before you the way of life and the way of death.

9 Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, famine or plague. But whoever goes out and surrenders to the Babylonians who are besieging you will live; they will escape with their lives.

10 I have determined to do this city harm and not good, declares the LORD. It will be given into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he will destroy it with fire.’

11 “Moreover, say to the royal house of Judah, ‘Hear the word of the LORD.

12 This is what the LORD says to you, house of David: “ ‘Administer justice every morning; rescue from the hand of the oppressor the one who has been robbed, or my wrath will break out and burn like fire because of the evil you have done— burn with no one to quench it.

13 I am against you, Jerusalem, you who live above this valley on the rocky plateau, declares the LORD— you who say, “Who can come against us? Who can enter our refuge?”

14 I will punish you as your deeds deserve, declares the LORD. I will kindle a fire in your forests that will consume everything around you.’ ”
