1 Das Wort, welches von seiten Jehovas zu Jeremia geschah, also:

2 Höret auf die Worte dieses Bundes und redet zu den Männern von Juda und zu den Bewohnern von Jerusalem!

3 Und du, sprich zu ihnen: So spricht Jehova, der Gott Israels: Verflucht sei der Mann, der nicht hört auf die Worte dieses Bundes,

4 welchen ich euren Vätern geboten habe an dem Tage, da ich sie herausführte aus dem Lande Ägypten, aus dem eisernen Schmelzofen, indem ich sprach: Höret auf meine Stimme und tut diese Worte, nach allem, was ich euch gebiete, so werdet ihr mein Volk, und ich werde euer Gott sein;

5 auf daß ich den Eid aufrecht halte, den ich euren Vätern geschworen habe, ihnen ein Land zu geben, das von Milch und Honig fließt, wie es an diesem Tage ist. Und ich antwortete und sprach: Amen, Jehova!

6 Und Jehova sprach zu mir: Rufe alle diese Worte aus in den Städten Judas und auf den Straßen von Jerusalem, und sprich: Höret die Worte dieses Bundes und tut sie!

7 Denn ich habe euren Vätern ernstlich bezeugt an dem Tage, da ich sie aus dem Lande Ägypten heraufführte, bis auf diesen Tag, früh mich aufmachend und bezeugend, indem ich sprach: Höret auf meine Stimme!

8 Aber sie haben nicht gehört und ihr Ohr nicht geneigt, sondern sie wandelten ein jeder in dem Starrsinn ihres bösen Herzens. Und ich brachte über sie alle Worte dieses Bundes, welche ich zu tun geboten, und die sie nicht getan haben.

9 Und Jehova sprach zu mir: Es hat sich eine Verschwörung gefunden unter den Männern von Juda und unter den Bewohnern von Jerusalem.

10 Sie sind zurückgekehrt zu den Missetaten ihrer ersten Väter, die sich geweigert haben, auf meine Worte zu hören; und sie selbst sind anderen Göttern nachgegangen, um ihnen zu dienen. Das Haus Israel und das Haus Juda haben meinen Bund gebrochen, den ich mit ihren Vätern gemacht habe.

11 Darum, so spricht Jehova: Siehe, ich bringe über sie ein Unglück, dem sie nicht werden entgehen können; und sie werden zu mir schreien, aber ich werde nicht auf sie hören.

12 Und die Städte von Juda und die Bewohner von Jerusalem werden hingehen und zu den Göttern schreien, welchen sie geräuchert haben; aber retten werden diese sie nicht zur Zeit ihres Unglücks.

13 Denn so zahlreich wie deine Städte sind deine Götter geworden, Juda; und nach der Zahl der Straßen von Jerusalem habt ihr der Schande Altäre gesetzt, Altäre, um dem Baal zu räuchern. -

14 Du aber, bitte nicht für dieses Volk und erhebe weder Flehen noch Gebet für sie; denn ich werde nicht hören zu der Zeit, da sie wegen ihres Unglücks zu mir rufen werden.

15 Was hat mein Geliebter in meinem Hause zu schaffen, da die Vielen Arglist üben? Wird heiliges Fleisch deine Bosheit von dir wegnehmen? Dann mögest du frohlocken.

16 Einen grünen Olivenbaum, schön an herrlicher Frucht, hatte Jehova dich genannt; bei dem Lärm eines großen Getümmels legte er Feuer an ihn, und es brachen seine Äste.

17 Und Jehova der Heerscharen, der dich gepflanzt, hat Böses über dich geredet wegen der Bosheit des Hauses Israel und des Hauses Juda, die sie verübt haben, um mich zu reizen, indem sie dem Baal räucherten.

18 Und Jehova hat es mir kundgetan, und ich erfuhr es; damals zeigtest du mir ihre Handlungen.

19 Und ich war wie ein zahmes Lamm, das zum Schlachten geführt wird; und ich wußte nicht, daß sie Anschläge wider mich ersannen: "Laßt uns den Baum mit seiner Frucht verderben und ihn aus dem Lande der Lebendigen ausrotten, daß seines Namens nicht mehr gedacht werde!"

20 Aber du, Jehova der Heerscharen, der du gerecht richtest, Nieren und Herz prüfst, laß mich deine Rache an ihnen sehen; denn dir habe ich meine Rechtssache anvertraut. -

21 Darum, so spricht Jehova über die Männer von Anathoth, welche nach deinem Leben trachten und sprechen: Du sollst nicht weissagen im Namen Jehovas, damit du nicht durch unsere Hände sterbest-

22 darum, so spricht Jehova der Heerscharen: Siehe, ich suche sie heim; die Jünglinge werden durchs Schwert sterben, ihre Söhne und ihre Töchter werden vor Hunger sterben,

23 und sie werden keinen Überrest haben; denn ich bringe Unglück über die Männer von Anathoth, das Jahr ihrer Heimsuchung.

1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord:

2 Hear the words of this covenant, and speak to the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

3 You shall say to them, Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Cursed be anyone who does not heed the words of this covenant,

4 which I commanded your ancestors when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the iron-smelter, saying, Listen to my voice, and do all that I command you. So shall you be my people, and I will be your God,

5 that I may perform the oath that I swore to your ancestors, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as at this day. Then I answered, "So be it, Lord."

6 And the Lord said to me: Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: Hear the words of this covenant and do them.

7 For I solemnly warned your ancestors when I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, warning them persistently, even to this day, saying, Obey my voice.

8 Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but everyone walked in the stubbornness of an evil will. So I brought upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they did not.

9 And the Lord said to me: Conspiracy exists among the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

10 They have turned back to the iniquities of their ancestors of old, who refused to heed my words; they have gone after other gods to serve them; the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken the covenant that I made with their ancestors.

11 Therefore, thus says the Lord, assuredly I am going to bring disaster upon them that they cannot escape; though they cry out to me, I will not listen to them.

12 Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to whom they make offerings, but they will never save them in the time of their trouble.

13 For your gods have become as many as your towns, O Judah; and as many as the streets of Jerusalem are the altars to shame you have set up, altars to make offerings to Baal.

14 As for you, do not pray for this people, or lift up a cry or prayer on their behalf, for I will not listen when they call to me in the time of their trouble.

15 What right has my beloved in my house, when she has done vile deeds? Can vows and sacrificial flesh avert your doom? Can you then exult?

16 The Lord once called you, "A green olive tree, fair with goodly fruit"; but with the roar of a great tempest he will set fire to it, and its branches will be consumed.

17 The Lord of hosts, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you, because of the evil that the house of Israel and the house of Judah have done, provoking me to anger by making offerings to Baal.

18 It was the Lord who made it known to me, and I knew; then you showed me their evil deeds.

19 But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter. And I did not know it was against me that they devised schemes, saying, "Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, let us cut him off from the land of the living, so that his name will no longer be remembered!"

20 But you, O Lord of hosts, who judge righteously, who try the heart and the mind, let me see your retribution upon them, for to you I have committed my cause.

21 Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the people of Anathoth, who seek your life, and say, "You shall not prophesy in the name of the Lord, or you will die by our hand"—

22 therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: I am going to punish them; the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine;

23 and not even a remnant shall be left of them. For I will bring disaster upon the people of Anathoth, the year of their punishment.
