1 Und ein Reis wird hervorgehen aus dem Stumpfe Isais, und ein Schößling aus seinen Wurzeln wird Frucht bringen.

2 Und auf ihm wird ruhen der Geist Jehovas, der Geist der Weisheit und des Verstandes, der Geist des Rates und der Kraft, der Geist der Erkenntnis und Furcht Jehovas;

3 und sein Wohlgefallen wird sein an der Furcht Jehovas. Und er wird nicht richten nach dem Sehen seiner Augen, und nicht Recht sprechen nach dem Hören seiner Ohren;

4 und er wird die Geringen richten in Gerechtigkeit, und den Demütigen des Landes Recht sprechen in Geradheit. Und er wird die Erde schlagen mit der Rute seines Mundes, und mit dem Hauche seiner Lippen den Gesetzlosen töten.

5 Und Gerechtigkeit wird der Gurt seiner Lenden sein, und die Treue der Gurt seiner Hüften. -

6 Und der Wolf wird bei dem Lamme weilen, und der Pardel bei dem Böcklein lagern; und das Kalb und der junge Löwe und das Mastvieh werden zusammen sein, und ein kleiner Knabe wird sie treiben.

7 Und Kuh und Bärin werden miteinander weiden, ihre Jungen zusammen lagern; und der Löwe wird Stroh fressen wie das Rind.

8 Und der Säugling wird spielen an dem Loche der Natter, und das entwöhnte Kind seine Hand ausstrecken nach der Höhle des Basilisken.

9 Man wird nicht übeltun, noch verderbt handeln auf meinem ganzen heiligen Gebirge; denn die Erde wird voll sein der Erkenntnis Jehovas, gleichwie die Wasser den Meeresgrund bedecken. -

10 Und es wird geschehen an jenem Tage: der Wurzelsproß Isais, welcher dasteht als Panier der Völker, nach ihm werden die Nationen fragen; und seine Ruhestätte wird Herrlichkeit sein.

11 Und es wird geschehen an jenem Tage, da wird der Herr noch zum zweiten Male seine Hand ausstrecken, um den Überrest seines Volkes, der übrigbleiben wird, loszukaufen aus Assyrien und aus Ägypten und aus Pathros und aus Äthiopien und aus Elam und aus Sinear und aus Hamath und aus den Inseln des Meeres.

12 Und er wird den Nationen ein Panier erheben und die Vertriebenen Israels zusammenbringen, und die Zerstreuten Judas wird er sammeln von den vier Enden der Erde.

13 Und der Neid Ephraims wird weichen, und die Bedränger Judas werden ausgerottet werden; Ephraim wird Juda nicht beneiden, und Juda wird Ephraim nicht bedrängen.

14 Und sie werden den Philistern auf die Schultern fliegen gegen Westen, werden miteinander plündern die Söhne des Ostens; an Edom und Moab werden sie ihre Hand legen, und die Kinder Ammon werden ihnen gehorsam sein.

15 Und Jehova wird die Meereszunge Ägyptens zerstören; und er wird seine Hand über den Strom schwingen mit der Glut seines Hauches, und ihn in sieben Bäche zerschlagen und machen, daß man mit Schuhen hindurchgeht.

16 Und so wird eine Straße sein von Assyrien her für den Überrest seines Volkes, der übrigbleiben wird, wie eine Straße für Israel war an dem Tage, da es aus dem Lande Ägypten heraufzog.

1 A shoot shall come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.

2 The spirit of the Lord shall rest on him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.

3 His delight shall be in the fear of the Lord. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide by what his ears hear;

4 but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked.

5 Righteousness shall be the belt around his waist, and faithfulness the belt around his loins.

6 The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them.

7 The cow and the bear shall graze, their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

8 The nursing child shall play over the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put its hand on the adder's den.

9 They will not hurt or destroy on all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

10 On that day the root of Jesse shall stand as a signal to the peoples; the nations shall inquire of him, and his dwelling shall be glorious.

11 On that day the Lord will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people, from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Ethiopia, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea.

12 He will raise a signal for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

13 The jealousy of Ephraim shall depart, the hostility of Judah shall be cut off; Ephraim shall not be jealous of Judah, and Judah shall not be hostile towards Ephraim.

14 But they shall swoop down on the backs of the Philistines in the west, together they shall plunder the people of the east. They shall put forth their hand against Edom and Moab, and the Ammonites shall obey them.

15 And the Lord will utterly destroy the tongue of the sea of Egypt; and will wave his hand over the River with his scorching wind; and will split it into seven channels, and make a way to cross on foot;

16 so there shall be a highway from Assyria for the remnant that is left of his people, as there was for Israel when they came up from the land of Egypt.
