1 Rufe aus voller Kehle, halte nicht zurück! Erhebe deine Stimme gleich einer Posaune, und tue meinem Volke seine Übertretung kund, und dem Hause Jakob seine Sünden!

2 Und doch fragen sie nach mir Tag für Tag und begehren meine Wege zu kennen; gleich einer Nation, welche Gerechtigkeit übt und das Recht ihres Gottes nicht verlassen hat, fordern sie von mir Gerichte der Gerechtigkeit, begehren das Herannahen Gottes.

3 "Warum haben wir gefastet, und du hast es nicht gesehen, unsere Seelen kasteit, und du hast es nicht gemerkt?" Siehe, am Tage eures Fastens geht ihr euren Geschäften nach und dränget alle eure Arbeiter.

4 Siehe, zu Hader und Zank fastet ihr, und um zu schlagen mit boshafter Faust. Heutzutage fastet ihr nicht, um eure Stimme hören zu lassen in der Höhe.

5 Ist dergleichen ein Fasten, an dem ich Gefallen habe, ein Tag, an welchem der Mensch seine Seele kasteit? Seinen Kopf zu beugen wie ein Schilf, und Sacktuch und Asche unter sich zu betten, nennst du das ein Fasten und einen dem Jehova wohlgefälligen Tag?

6 Ist nicht dieses ein Fasten, an dem ich Gefallen habe: daß man löse die Schlingen der Bosheit, daß man losmache die Knoten des Joches und gewalttätig Behandelte als Freie entlasse, und daß ihr jedes Joch zersprenget?

7 Besteht es nicht darin, dein Brot dem Hungrigen zu brechen, und daß du verfolgte Elende ins Haus führst? Wenn du einen Nackten siehst, daß du ihn bedeckst und deinem Fleische dich nicht entziehst?

8 Dann wird dein Licht hervorbrechen wie die Morgenröte, und deine Heilung wird eilends sprossen; und deine Gerechtigkeit wird vor dir herziehen, die Herrlichkeit Jehovas wird deine Nachhut sein.

9 Dann wirst du rufen, und Jehova wird antworten; du wirst um Hilfe schreien, und er wird sagen: Hier bin ich! Wenn du das Joch, das Fingerausstrecken und unheilvolle Reden aus deiner Mitte hinwegtust,

10 und deine Speise dem Hungrigen darreichst und die niedergedrückte Seele sättigst: so wird dein Licht aufgehen in der Finsternis, und dein Dunkel wird sein wie der Mittag.

11 Und beständig wird Jehova dich leiten, und er wird deine Seele sättigen in Zeiten der Dürre und deine Gebeine rüstig machen. Und du wirst sein wie ein bewässerter Garten und wie ein Wasserquell, dessen Gewässer nicht trügen.

12 Und die aus dir kommen, werden die uralten Trümmer aufbauen; die Grundmauern vergangener Geschlechter wirst du aufrichten; und du wirst genannt werden: Vermaurer der Lücken, Wiederhersteller bewohnbarer Straßen.

13 Wenn du deinen Fuß vom Sabbath zurückhältst, daß du dein Geschäft nicht tust an meinem heiligen Tage, und den Sabbath ein Ergötzen und den heiligen Tag Jehovas ehrwürdig nennst; und wenn du ihn ehrst, so daß du nicht deine Wege verfolgst, dein Geschäft treibst und eitle Worte redest:

14 dann wirst du dich an Jehova ergötzen, und ich werde dich einherfahren lassen auf den Höhen der Erde, und werde dich speisen mit dem Erbteil Jakobs, deines Vaters; denn der Mund Jehovas hat geredet.

1 Shout out, do not hold back! Lift up your voice like a trumpet! Announce to my people their rebellion, to the house of Jacob their sins.

2 Yet day after day they seek me and delight to know my ways, as if they were a nation that practiced righteousness and did not forsake the ordinance of their God; they ask of me righteous judgments, they delight to draw near to God.

3 "Why do we fast, but you do not see? Why humble ourselves, but you do not notice?" Look, you serve your own interest on your fast day, and oppress all your workers.

4 Look, you fast only to quarrel and to fight and to strike with a wicked fist. Such fasting as you do today will not make your voice heard on high.

5 Is such the fast that I choose, a day to humble oneself? Is it to bow down the head like a bulrush, and to lie in sackcloth and ashes? Will you call this a fast, a day acceptable to the Lord?

6 Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of injustice, to undo the thongs of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?

7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover them, and not to hide yourself from your own kin?

8 Then your light shall break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up quickly; your vindicator shall go before you, the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

9 Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry for help, and he will say, Here I am. If you remove the yoke from among you, the pointing of the finger, the speaking of evil,

10 if you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noonday.

11 The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your needs in parched places, and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters never fail.

12 Your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to live in.

13 If you refrain from trampling the sabbath, from pursuing your own interests on my holy day; if you call the sabbath a delight and the holy day of the Lord honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, serving your own interests, or pursuing your own affairs;

14 then you shall take delight in the Lord, and I will make you ride upon the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of your ancestor Jacob, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
