1 ¿Por qué no se reserva los tiempos el Todopoderoso, y por qué no ven sus días los que le conocen?

"But if Judgment Day isn't hidden from the Almighty, why are we kept in the dark?
2 Algunos quitan los linderos, roban y devoran los rebaños.

There are people out there getting by with murder - stealing and lying and cheating.
3 Se llevan los asnos de los huérfanos, toman en prenda el buey de la viuda.

They rip off the poor and exploit the unfortunate,
4 Apartan del camino a los necesitados, hacen que se escondan enteramente los pobres de la tierra.

Push the helpless into the ditch, bully the weak so that they fear for their lives.
5 He aquí, como asnos monteses en el desierto, salen con afán en busca de alimento y de pan para sus hijos en el yermo.

The poor, like stray dogs and cats, scavenge for food in back alleys.
6 Cosechan su forraje en el campo, y vendimian la viña del impío.

They sort through the garbage of the rich, eke out survival on handouts.

Homeless, they shiver through cold nights on the street; they've no place to lay their heads.

Exposed to the weather, wet and frozen, they huddle in makeshift shelters.
9 Otros arrancan al huérfano del pecho, y contra el pobre exigen prenda.

Nursing mothers have their babies snatched from them; the infants of the poor are kidnapped and sold.
10 Hacen que el pobre ande desnudo, sin ropa, y al hambriento quitan las gavillas.

They go about patched and threadbare; even the hard workers go hungry.
11 Entre sus paredes producen aceite; pisan los lagares, pero pasan sed.

No matter how back-breaking their labor, they can never make ends meet.
12 Desde la ciudad gimen los hombres, y claman las almas de los heridos, pero Dios no hace caso a su oración.

People are dying right and left, groaning in torment. The wretched cry out for help and God does nothing, acts like nothing's wrong!
13 Otros han estado con los que se rebelan contra la luz; no quieren conocer sus caminos, ni morar en sus sendas.

"Then there are those who avoid light at all costs, who scorn the light-filled path.
14 Al amanecer se levanta el asesino; mata al pobre y al necesitado, y de noche es como un ladrón.

When the sun goes down, the murderer gets up - kills the poor and robs the defenseless.
15 El ojo del adúltero espera el anochecer, diciendo: "Ningún ojo me verá", y disfraza su rostro.

Sexual predators can't wait for nightfall, thinking, 'No one can see us now.'
16 En la oscuridad minan las casas, y de día se encierran; no conocen la luz.

Burglars do their work at night, but keep well out of sight through the day. They want nothing to do with light.
17 Porque para él la mañana es como densa oscuridad, pues está acostumbrado a los terrores de la densa oscuridad.

Deep darkness is morning for that bunch; they make the terrors of darkness their companions in crime.
18 Sobre la superficie de las aguas son insignificantes; maldita es su porción sobre la tierra, nadie se vuelve hacia las viñas.

"They are scraps of wood floating on the water - useless, cursed junk, good for nothing.

As surely as snow melts under the hot, summer sun, sinners disappear in the grave.

The womb has forgotten them, worms have relished them - nothing that is evil lasts.

Unscrupulous, they prey on those less fortunate.

However much they strut and flex their muscles, there's nothing to them. They're hollow.

They may have an illusion of security, but God has his eye on them.
24 Son exaltados por poco tiempo, después desaparecen; además son humillados y como todo, recogidos; como las cabezas de las espigas son cortados.

They may get their brief successes, but then it's over, nothing to show for it. Like yesterday's newspaper, they're used to wrap up the garbage.
25 Y si no, ¿quién podrá desmentirme, y reducir a nada mi discurso?

You're free to try to prove me a liar, but you won't be able to do it."
