1 et ad discipulos suos ait inpossibile est ut non veniant scandala vae autem illi per quem veniunt
1 And Jesus said to his disciples, It is impossible that causes of stumbling come not; but woe to that man, by whom they come. [And he said to his disciples, It is impossible that offences come not; but woe to him, by whom they come.]
2 utilius est illi si lapis molaris inponatur circa collum eius et proiciatur in mare quam ut scandalizet unum de pusillis istis
2 It is more profitable to him, if a millstone be put about his neck, and he be cast into the sea, than that he cause to stumble one of these little [than that he offend one of these little].
3 adtendite vobis si peccaverit frater tuus increpa illum et si paenitentiam egerit dimitte illi
3 Take ye heed to yourselves [Take heed to yourselves]; if thy brother hath sinned against thee, blame him; and if he do penance, forgive him.
4 et si septies in die peccaverit in te et septies in die conversus fuerit ad te dicens paenitet me dimitte illi
4 And if seven times in the day he do sin against thee, and seven times in the day he be converted to thee, and say, It repenteth me, forgive thou him. [+And if seven times in the day he shall sin against thee, and seven times in the day shall be converted to thee, saying, It repenteth me, forgive him.]
5 et dixerunt apostoli Domino adauge nobis fidem
5 And the apostles said to the Lord, Increase to us faith [Increase faith to us].
6 dixit autem Dominus si haberetis fidem sicut granum sinapis diceretis huic arbori moro eradicare et transplantare in mare et oboediret vobis
6 And the Lord said, If ye have faith as the corn of mustard seed [If ye had faith as a corn of mustard seed], ye shall say to this (syca)more tree, Be thou drawn up by the root, and be over-planted into the sea [and be thou planted over into the sea], and it shall obey to you.
7 quis autem vestrum habens servum arantem aut pascentem qui regresso de agro dicet illi statim transi recumbe
7 But who of you hath a servant plowing, or pasturing oxen, which saith to him, when he turneth again from the field, At once go, and sit to meat; [+Forsooth who of you having a servant plowing, or pasturing oxen, the which turned again from the field, saith anon to him, Go and sit to meat;]
8 et non dicet ei para quod cenem et praecinge te et ministra mihi donec manducem et bibam et post haec tu manducabis et bibes
8 and saith not to him, Make ready, that I sup, and gird thee, and serve me, while I eat and drink, and after this thou shalt eat and drink; [and not saith to him, Make ready, that I sup, and gird thee before, and minister to me, till that I eat and drink, and after these things thou shalt eat and drink;]
9 numquid gratiam habet servo illi quia fecit quae sibi imperaverat non puto
9 whether he hath grace to that servant, for he did that that he commanded him? Nay, I guess.
10 sic et vos cum feceritis omnia quae praecepta sunt vobis dicite servi inutiles sumus quod debuimus facere fecimus
10 So [also] ye, when ye have done all things that be commanded to you, say ye [say], We be unprofitable servants, we have done that that we ought to do.
11 et factum est dum iret in Hierusalem transiebat per mediam Samariam et Galilaeam
11 And it was done, the while Jesus went to Jerusalem, he passed through the midst of Samaria, and Galilee.
12 et cum ingrederetur quoddam castellum occurrerunt ei decem viri leprosi qui steterunt a longe
12 And when he entered into a castle [And when he entered into some castle], ten leprous men came to meet him, which stood afar,
13 et levaverunt vocem dicentes Iesu praeceptor miserere nostri
13 and raised their voice [and lifted up their voice], and said, Jesus, Commander, have mercy on us.
14 quos ut vidit dixit ite ostendite vos sacerdotibus et factum est dum irent mundati sunt
14 And as he saw them, he said [Whom, when he saw, he said], Go, show ye you to the priests. And it was done, while they went, they were cleansed.
15 unus autem ex illis ut vidit quia mundatus est regressus est cum magna voce magnificans Deum
15 And one of them, as he saw that he was cleansed, went again, magnifying God with a great voice.
16 et cecidit in faciem ante pedes eius gratias agens et hic erat Samaritanus
16 And he fell down on the face before his feet, and did thankings [doing graces, or thankings]; and this was a Samaritan.
17 respondens autem Iesus dixit nonne decem mundati sunt et novem ubi sunt
17 And Jesus answered, and said [Forsooth Jesus answering said], Whether ten be not cleansed, and where be the nine?
18 non est inventus qui rediret et daret gloriam Deo nisi hic alienigena
18 There is none found, that turned again, and gave glory to God, but this alien [but this alien, or stranger].
19 et ait illi surge vade quia fides tua te salvum fecit
19 And he said to him, Rise up, go thou; for thy faith hath made thee safe.
20 interrogatus autem a Pharisaeis quando venit regnum Dei respondit eis et dixit non venit regnum Dei cum observatione
20 And he was asked of the Pharisees, when the realm of God cometh. And he answered to them, and said, The realm of God cometh not with espying,
21 neque dicent ecce hic aut ecce illic ecce enim regnum Dei intra vos est
21 neither they shall say, Lo! here, or lo[!] there; for lo! the realm of God is within you.
22 et ait ad discipulos venient dies quando desideretis videre unum diem Filii hominis et non videbitis
22 And he said to his disciples, Days shall come, when ye shall desire to see one day of man's Son, and ye shall not see.
23 et dicent vobis ecce hic ecce illic nolite ire neque sectemini
23 And they shall say to you, Lo! here, and lo! there. Do not ye go, neither follow;
24 nam sicut fulgur coruscans de sub caelo in ea quae sub caelo sunt fulget ita erit Filius hominis in die sua
24 for as lightning shining from under heaven shineth into those things [shineth on those things] that be under heaven, so shall man's Son be in his day.
25 primum autem oportet illum multa pati et reprobari a generatione hac
25 But first it behooveth him to suffer many things, and to be reproved of this generation.
26 et sicut factum est in diebus Noe ita erit et in diebus Filii hominis
26 And as it was done in the days of Noe, so it shall be in the days of man's Son.
27 edebant et bibebant uxores ducebant et dabantur ad nuptias usque in diem qua intravit Noe in arcam et venit diluvium et perdidit omnes
27 They ate and drank, wedded wives, and were given to weddings, till into the day in which Noe entered into the ship; and the great flood came, and destroyed all [and lost all].
28 similiter sicut factum est in diebus Loth edebant et bibebant emebant et vendebant plantabant aedificabant
28 Also as it was done in the days of Lot, they ate and drank, bought and sold, planted and builded;
29 qua die autem exiit Loth a Sodomis pluit ignem et sulphur de caelo et omnes perdidit
29 but in the day that Lot went out of Sodom, the Lord rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed all [and lost all].
30 secundum haec erit qua die Filius hominis revelabitur
30 Like this thing it shall be [After this thing it shall be], in what day man's Son shall be showed.
31 in illa hora qui fuerit in tecto et vasa eius in domo ne descendat tollere illa et qui in agro similiter non redeat retro
31 In that hour he that is in the roof [In that day he that shall be in the roof], and his vessels in the house, come he not down to take them away; and he that shall be in the field [and he that is in the field], also turn not again behind.
32 memores estote uxoris Loth
32 Be ye mindful of the wife of Lot.
33 quicumque quaesierit animam suam salvare perdet illam et qui perdiderit illam vivificabit eam
33 Whoever seeketh to make his life safe, shall lose it; and whoever loseth it, shall quicken it. [Whoever shall seek to make his life safe, shall lose it; and whoever shall lose it, shall quicken it.]
34 dico vobis illa nocte erunt duo in lecto uno unus adsumetur et alter relinquetur
34 But I say to you [I say to you], in that night two shall be in one bed, one shall be taken, and the other [shall be] forsaken;
35 duae erunt molentes in unum una adsumetur et altera relinquetur duo in agro unus adsumetur et alter relinquetur
35 two women shall be grinding together, the one shall be taken, and the other forsaken [and the tother shall be forsaken];
36 respondentes dicunt illi ubi Domine
36 two in a field, the one shall be taken, and the other left.
37 qui dixit eis ubicumque fuerit corpus illuc congregabuntur aquilae
37 They answer, and say to him, Where, Lord? Which said to them, Where ever the body shall be, thither shall be gathered together also the eagles. [They answering said to him, Where Lord? Which said to them, Where ever the body shall be, also the eagles shall be gathered together thither.]
