2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.
5 Yào hé tā suǒ pìn zhī qī Mǎlìyà , yītóng bàomíng shàng cè . nàshí Mǎlìyà de shēnyùn yǐjing zhòng le .
5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.
6 Tāmen zaì nàli de shíhou , Mǎlìyà de chǎnqī dào le .
6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,
7 Jiù shēng le tóutāi de érzi , yòng bù bāo qǐlai , fàng zaì mǎcaó lǐ , yīnwei kèdiàn lǐ méiyǒu dìfang .
7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
8 Zaì Bólìhéng zhī yĕdì lǐ yǒu mù yáng rén , yè jiān àn zhe gèng cì kānshǒu yáng qún .

16 Tāmen jímáng qù le , jiù xún jiàn Mǎlìyà hé Yūesè , yòu yǒu nà yīnghái wò zaì mǎcaó lǐ .

19 Mǎlìyà què bǎ zhè yīqiè shì cún zaì xīnli , fǎnfù sīxiǎng .
19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord” ),
