The disciples followed him. ESV 40 And when he came to the place, he said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation." MSG 40 When they arrived at the place, he said, "Pray that you don't give in to temptation." ESV 41 And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed, MSG 41 He pulled away from them about a stone's throw, knelt down, and prayed, ESV 42 saying, "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done." MSG 42 "Father, remove this cup from me. But please, not what I want. What do you want?" ESV 43 And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. MSG 43 At once an angel from heaven was at his side, strengthening him. ESV 44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. MSG 44 He prayed on all the harder. Sweat, wrung from him like drops of blood, poured off his face. ESV 45 And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow, MSG 45 He got up from prayer, went back to the disciples and found them asleep, drugged by grief. ESV 46 and he said to them, "Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation." MSG 46 He said, "What business do you have sleeping? Get up. Pray so you won't give in to temptation."
