The fig tree that you cursed has withered." KJV 22 And Jesus answering saith unto them,Have faith in God. ESV 22 And Jesus answered them, "Have faith in God. KJV 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. ESV 23 Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. KJV 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. ESV 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. KJV 25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. ESV 25 And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses." ESV 28 and they said to him, "By what authority are you doing these things, or who gave you this authority to do them?" KJV 29 And Jesus answered and said unto them,I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. ESV 29 Jesus said to them, "I will ask you one question; answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. KJV 30 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me. ESV 30 Was the baptism of John from heaven or from man? Answer me." KJV 31 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him? ESV 31 And they discussed it with one another, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will say, 'Why then did you not believe him?' KJV 32 But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed. ESV 32 But shall we say, 'From man'?"--they were afraid of the people, for they all held that John really was a prophet. KJV 33 And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them,Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things. ESV 33 So they answered Jesus, "We do not know." And Jesus said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things."

Mark 12

KJV 1 And he began to speak unto them by parables.A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country. ESV 1 And he began to speak to them in parables. "A man planted a vineyard and put a fence around it and dug a pit for the winepress and built a tower, and leased it to tenants and went into another country. KJV 2 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard. ESV 2 When the season came, he sent a servant to the tenants to get from them some of the fruit of the vineyard. KJV 3 And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty. ESV 3 And they took him and beat him and sent him away empty-handed. KJV 4 And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled. ESV 4 Again he sent to them another servant, and they struck him on the head and treated him shamefully. KJV 5 And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some. ESV 5 And he sent another, and him they killed. And so with many others: some they beat, and some they killed. KJV 6 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son. ESV 6 He had still one other, a beloved son. Finally he sent him to them, saying, 'They will respect my son.' KJV 7 But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours. ESV 7 But those tenants said to one another, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.' KJV 8 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard. ESV 8 And they took him and killed him and threw him out of the vineyard. KJV 9 What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others. ESV 9 What will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the tenants and give the vineyard to others. KJV 10 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner: ESV 10 Have you not read this Scripture: "'The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; KJV 11 This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? ESV 11 this was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?" KJV 12 And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way. ESV 12 And they were seeking to arrest him but feared the people, for they perceived that he had told the parable against them. So they left him and went away. KJV 13 And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words. ESV 13 And they sent to him some of the Pharisees and some of the Herodians, to trap him in his talk. KJV 14 And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not? ESV 14 And they came and said to him, "Teacher, we know that you are true and do not care about anyone's opinion. For you are not swayed by appearances, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? Should we pay them, or should we not?" KJV 15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them,Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it. ESV 15 But, knowing their hypocrisy, he said to them, "Why put me to the test? Bring me a denarius and let me look at it." KJV 16 And they brought it. And he saith unto them,Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's. ESV 16 And they brought one. And he said to them, "Whose likeness and inscription is this?" They said to him, "Caesar's." KJV 17 And Jesus answering said unto them,Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him. ESV 17 Jesus said to them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." And they marveled at him. KJV 18 Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying, ESV 18 And Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no resurrection. And they asked him a question, saying, KJV 19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. ESV 19 "Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife, but leaves no child, the man must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. KJV 20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed. ESV 20 There were seven brothers; the first took a wife, and when he died left no offspring. KJV 21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise. ESV 21 And the second took her, and died, leaving no offspring. And the third likewise. KJV 22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also. ESV 22 And the seven left no offspring. Last of all the woman also died. KJV 23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife. ESV 23 In the resurrection, when they rise again, whose wife will she be? For the seven had her as wife." KJV 24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God? ESV 24 Jesus said to them, "Is this not the reason you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God? KJV 25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. ESV 25 For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. KJV 26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? ESV 26 And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God spoke to him, saying, 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? KJV 27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err. ESV 27 He is not God of the dead, but of the living. You are quite wrong." KJV 28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? ESV 28 And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, "Which commandment is the most important of all?" KJV 29 And Jesus answered him,The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: ESV 29 Jesus answered, "The most important is, 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. KJV 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. ESV 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' KJV 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. ESV 31 The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." KJV 32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: ESV 32 And the scribe said to him, "You are right, Teacher. You have truly said that he is one, and there is no other besides him. KJV 33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. ESV 33 And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices." KJV 34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him,Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question. ESV 34 And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And after that no one dared to ask him any more questions. KJV 35 And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple,How say the scribes that Christ is the Son of David? ESV 35 And as Jesus taught in the temple, he said, "How can the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David? KJV 36 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool. ESV 36 David himself, in the Holy Spirit, declared, "'The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet.' KJV 37 David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly. ESV 37 David himself calls him Lord. So how is he his son?" And the great throng heard him gladly. KJV 38 And he said unto them in his doctrine,Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces, ESV 38 And in his teaching he said, "Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes and like greetings in the marketplaces KJV 39 And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts: ESV 39 and have the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts, KJV 40 Which devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation. ESV 40 who devour widows' houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation." KJV 41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. ESV 41 And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. KJV 42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. ESV 42 And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. KJV 43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them,Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: ESV 43 And he called his disciples to him and said to them, "Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. KJV 44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living. ESV 44 For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on."

Mark 13

KJV 1 And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here! ESV 1 And as he came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, "Look, Teacher, what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!" KJV 2 And Jesus answering said unto him,Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. ESV 2 And Jesus said to him, "Do you see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down." KJV 3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, ESV 3 And as he sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, KJV 4 Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled? ESV 4 "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when all these things are about to be accomplished?" KJV 5 And Jesus answering them began to say,Take heed lest any man deceive you: ESV 5 And Jesus began to say to them, "See that no one leads you astray. KJV 6 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. ESV 6 Many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he!' and they will lead many astray. KJV 7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. ESV 7 And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. This must take place, but the end is not yet. KJV 8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. ESV 8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. These are but the beginning of the birth pains. KJV 9 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them. ESV 9 "But be on your guard. For they will deliver you over to councils, and you will be beaten in synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them. KJV 10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations. ESV 10 And the gospel must first be proclaimed to all nations. KJV 11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. ESV 11 And when they bring you to trial and deliver you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. KJV 12 Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. ESV 12 And brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death. KJV 13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. ESV 13 And you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. KJV 14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains: ESV 14 "But when you see the abomination of desolation standing where he ought not to be (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. KJV 15 And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house: ESV 15 Let the one who is on the housetop not go down, nor enter his house, to take anything out, KJV 16 And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment. ESV 16 and let the one who is in the field not turn back to take his cloak. KJV 17 But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! ESV 17 And alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! KJV 18 And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter. ESV 18 Pray that it may not happen in winter. KJV 19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be. ESV 19 For in those days there will be such tribulation as has not been from the beginning of the creation that God created until now, and never will be. KJV 20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days. ESV 20 And if the Lord had not cut short the days, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, whom he chose, he shortened the days. KJV 21 And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not: ESV 21 And then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'Look, there he is!' do not believe it. KJV 22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. ESV 22 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect. KJV 23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things. ESV 23 But be on guard; I have told you all things beforehand. KJV 24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, ESV 24 "But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, KJV 25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. ESV 25 and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. KJV 26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. ESV 26 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. KJV 27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. ESV 27 And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven. KJV 28 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near: ESV 28 "From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. KJV 29 So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors. ESV 29 So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that he is near, at the very gates. KJV 30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. ESV 30 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. KJV 31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. ESV 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. KJV 32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. ESV 32 "But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. KJV 33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. ESV 33 Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. KJV 34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. ESV 34 It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake. KJV 35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: ESV 35 Therefore stay awake--for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning-- KJV 36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. ESV 36 lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. KJV 37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch. ESV 37 And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake."

Mark 14:1-16

KJV 1 After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death. ESV 1 It was now two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest him by stealth and kill him, KJV 2 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people. ESV 2 for they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar from the people." KJV 3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head. ESV 3 And while he was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he was reclining at table, a woman came with an alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard, very costly, and she broke the flask and poured it over his head. KJV 4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? ESV 4 There were some who said to themselves indignantly, "Why was the ointment wasted like that? KJV 5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. ESV 5 For this ointment could have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor." And they scolded her. KJV 6 And Jesus said,Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. ESV 6 But Jesus said, "Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. KJV 7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. ESV 7 For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good for them. But you will not always have me. KJV 8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. ESV 8 She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand for burial. KJV 9 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her. ESV 9 And truly, I say to you, wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will be told in memory of her." KJV 10 And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them. ESV 10 Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went to the chief priests in order to betray him to them. KJV 11 And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him. ESV 11 And when they heard it, they were glad and promised to give him money. And he sought an opportunity to betray him. KJV 12 And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover? ESV 12 And on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, his disciples said to him, "Where will you have us go and prepare for you to eat the Passover?" KJV 13 And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them,Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. ESV 13 And he sent two of his disciples and said to them, "Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him, KJV 14 And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? ESV 14 and wherever he enters, say to the master of the house, 'The Teacher says, Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?' KJV 15 And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us. ESV 15 And he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; there prepare for us." KJV 16 And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover. ESV 16 And the disciples set out and went to the city and found it just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.
