Mark 11

SBLGNT 1 Καὶ ὅτε ἐγγίζουσιν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα εἰς Βηθφαγὴ καὶ Βηθανίαν πρὸς τὸ Ὄρος τῶν Ἐλαιῶν, ἀποστέλλει δύο τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ NIV 1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, SBLGNT 2 καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς · Ὑπάγετε εἰς τὴν κώμην τὴν κατέναντι ὑμῶν, καὶ εὐθὺς εἰσπορευόμενοι εἰς αὐτὴν εὑρήσετε πῶλον δεδεμένον ἐφ’ ὃν οὐδεὶς οὔπω ἀνθρώπων ἐκάθισεν · λύσατε αὐτὸν καὶ φέρετε. NIV 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. SBLGNT 3 καὶ ἐάν τις ὑμῖν εἴπῃ · Τί ποιεῖτε τοῦτο; εἴπατε ὅτι Ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ χρείαν ἔχει · καὶ εὐθὺς αὐτὸν ἀποστέλλει πάλιν ὧδε. NIV 3 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’ ” SBLGNT 4 καὶ ἀπῆλθον ⸃ καὶ εὗρον πῶλον δεδεμένον πρὸς θύραν ἔξω ἐπὶ τοῦ ἀμφόδου, καὶ λύουσιν αὐτόν. NIV 4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, SBLGNT 5 καί τινες τῶν ἐκεῖ ἑστηκότων ἔλεγον αὐτοῖς · Τί ποιεῖτε λύοντες τὸν πῶλον; NIV 5 some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?” SBLGNT 6 οἱ δὲ εἶπαν αὐτοῖς καθὼς εἶπεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς · καὶ ἀφῆκαν αὐτούς. NIV 6 They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. SBLGNT 7 καὶ φέρουσιν τὸν πῶλον πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν, καὶ ἐπιβάλλουσιν αὐτῷ τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτῶν, καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐπ’ αὐτόν. NIV 7 When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. SBLGNT 8 καὶ πολλοὶ ⸃ τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτῶν ἔστρωσαν εἰς τὴν ὁδόν, ἄλλοι δὲ στιβάδας κόψαντες ἐκ τῶν ἀγρῶν. NIV 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. SBLGNT 9 καὶ οἱ προάγοντες καὶ οἱ ἀκολουθοῦντες ἔκραζον · Ὡσαννά · Εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου · NIV 9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, “Hosanna! ” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” SBLGNT 10 Εὐλογημένη ἡ ἐρχομένη βασιλεία τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν Δαυίδ · Ὡσαννὰ ἐν τοῖς ὑψίστοις. NIV 10 “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!” SBLGNT 11 Καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα εἰς τὸ ἱερόν · καὶ περιβλεψάμενος πάντα ὀψὲ ἤδη οὔσης τῆς ὥρας ἐξῆλθεν εἰς Βηθανίαν μετὰ τῶν δώδεκα. NIV 11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the temple courts. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve. SBLGNT 12 Καὶ τῇ ἐπαύριον ἐξελθόντων αὐτῶν ἀπὸ Βηθανίας ἐπείνασεν. NIV 12 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. SBLGNT 13 καὶ ἰδὼν συκῆν ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἔχουσαν φύλλα ἦλθεν εἰ ἄρα τι εὑρήσει ⸃ ἐν αὐτῇ, καὶ ἐλθὼν ἐπ’ αὐτὴν οὐδὲν εὗρεν εἰ μὴ φύλλα, ὁ γὰρ καιρὸς οὐκ ἦν ⸃ σύκων. NIV 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. SBLGNT 14 καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτῇ · Μηκέτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ἐκ σοῦ ⸃ μηδεὶς καρπὸν φάγοι. καὶ ἤκουον οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ. NIV 14 Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it. SBLGNT 15 Καὶ ἔρχονται εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα. καὶ εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν ἤρξατο ἐκβάλλειν τοὺς πωλοῦντας καὶ τοὺς ἀγοράζοντας ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ, καὶ τὰς τραπέζας τῶν κολλυβιστῶν καὶ τὰς καθέδρας τῶν πωλούντων τὰς περιστερὰς κατέστρεψεν NIV 15 On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, SBLGNT 16 καὶ οὐκ ἤφιεν ἵνα τις διενέγκῃ σκεῦος διὰ τοῦ ἱεροῦ, NIV 16 and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. SBLGNT 17 καὶ ἐδίδασκεν καὶ ἔλεγεν ⸃ αὐτοῖς · Οὐ γέγραπται ὅτι Ὁ οἶκός μου οἶκος προσευχῆς κληθήσεται πᾶσιν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν; ὑμεῖς δὲ πεποιήκατε αὐτὸν σπήλαιον λῃστῶν. NIV 17 And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’” SBLGNT 18 καὶ ἤκουσαν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς, καὶ ἐζήτουν πῶς αὐτὸν ἀπολέσωσιν · ἐφοβοῦντο γὰρ αὐτόν, πᾶς γὰρ ⸃ ὁ ὄχλος ἐξεπλήσσετο ἐπὶ τῇ διδαχῇ αὐτοῦ. NIV 18 The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching. SBLGNT 19 Καὶ ὅταν ὀψὲ ἐγένετο, ἐξεπορεύοντο ἔξω τῆς πόλεως. NIV 19 When evening came, Jesus and his disciples went out of the city. SBLGNT 20 Καὶ παραπορευόμενοι πρωῒ ⸃ εἶδον τὴν συκῆν ἐξηραμμένην ἐκ ῥιζῶν. NIV 20 In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. SBLGNT 21 καὶ ἀναμνησθεὶς ὁ Πέτρος λέγει αὐτῷ · Ῥαββί, ἴδε ἡ συκῆ ἣν κατηράσω ἐξήρανται. NIV 21 Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!” SBLGNT 22 καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς λέγει αὐτοῖς · Ἔχετε πίστιν θεοῦ · NIV 22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. SBLGNT 23 ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ὃς ἂν εἴπῃ τῷ ὄρει τούτῳ · Ἄρθητι καὶ βλήθητι εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν, καὶ μὴ διακριθῇ ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ ἀλλὰ πιστεύῃ ὅτι ὃ λαλεῖ γίνεται, ἔσται αὐτῷ. NIV 23 “TrulyI tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. SBLGNT 24 διὰ τοῦτο λέγω ὑμῖν, πάντα ὅσα προσεύχεσθε καὶ αἰτεῖσθε, πιστεύετε ὅτι ἐλάβετε, καὶ ἔσται ὑμῖν. NIV 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. SBLGNT 25 καὶ ὅταν στήκετε προσευχόμενοι, ἀφίετε εἴ τι ἔχετε κατά τινος, ἵνα καὶ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς ἀφῇ ὑμῖν τὰ παραπτώματα ὑμῶν. NIV 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” SBLGNT 27 Καὶ ἔρχονται πάλιν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα. καὶ ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ περιπατοῦντος αὐτοῦ ἔρχονται πρὸς αὐτὸν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι NIV 27 They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders came to him. SBLGNT 28 καὶ ἔλεγον αὐτῷ · Ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιεῖς; ἢ τίς σοι ἔδωκεν τὴν ἐξουσίαν ταύτην ⸃ ἵνα ταῦτα ποιῇς; NIV 28 “By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you authority to do this?” SBLGNT 29 ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς · Ἐπερωτήσω ὑμᾶς ἕνα λόγον, καὶ ἀποκρίθητέ μοι, καὶ ἐρῶ ὑμῖν ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιῶ · NIV 29 Jesus replied, “I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. SBLGNT 30 τὸ βάπτισμα τὸ Ἰωάννου ἐξ οὐρανοῦ ἦν ἢ ἐξ ἀνθρώπων; ἀποκρίθητέ μοι. NIV 30 John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or of human origin? Tell me!” SBLGNT 31 καὶ διελογίζοντο πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς λέγοντες · Τί εἴπωμεν;⸃ ἐὰν εἴπωμεν · Ἐξ οὐρανοῦ, ἐρεῖ · Διὰ τί οὖν οὐκ ἐπιστεύσατε αὐτῷ; NIV 31 They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’ SBLGNT 32 ἀλλὰ εἴπωμεν · Ἐξ ἀνθρώπων;— ἐφοβοῦντο τὸν ὄχλον, ἅπαντες γὰρ εἶχον τὸν Ἰωάννην ὄντως ὅτι ⸃ προφήτης ἦν. NIV 32 But if we say, ‘Of human origin’ …” (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.) SBLGNT 33 καὶ ἀποκριθέντες τῷ Ἰησοῦ λέγουσιν ⸃· Οὐκ οἴδαμεν. καὶ ὁ Ἰησοῦς λέγει αὐτοῖς · Οὐδὲ ἐγὼ λέγω ὑμῖν ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιῶ. NIV 33 So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know.” Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”
