RHE 1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: NIV 1 The LORD said to Moses, RHE 2 Command the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them: When you are entered into the land of Chanaan, and it shall be fallen into your possession by lot, it shall be bounded by these limits: NIV 2 “Command the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter Canaan, the land that will be allotted to you as an inheritance is to have these boundaries: RHE 3 The south side shall begin from the wilderness of Sin, which is by Edom: and shall have the most salt sea for its furthest limits eastward: NIV 3 “ ‘Your southern side will include some of the Desert of Zin along the border of Edom. Your southern boundary will start in the east from the southern end of the Dead Sea, RHE 4 Which limits shall go round on the south side by the ascent of the Scorpion and so into Senna, and reach toward the south as far as Cadesbarne, from whence the frontiers shall go out to the town called Adar, and shall reach as far as Asemona. NIV 4 cross south of Scorpion Pass, continue on to Zin and go south of Kadesh Barnea. Then it will go to Hazar Addar and over to Azmon, RHE 5 And the limits shall fetch a compass from Asemona to the torrent of Egypt, and shall end in the shore of the great sea. NIV 5 where it will turn, join the Wadi of Egypt and end at the Mediterranean Sea. RHE 6 And the west side shall begin from the great sea, and the same shall be the end thereof. NIV 6 “ ‘Your western boundary will be the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. This will be your boundary on the west. RHE 7 But toward the north side the borders shall begin from the great sea, reaching to the most high mountain, NIV 7 “ ‘For your northern boundary, run a line from the Mediterranean Sea to Mount Hor RHE 8 From which they shall come to Emath, as far as the borders of Sedada: NIV 8 and from Mount Hor to Lebo Hamath. Then the boundary will go to Zedad, RHE 9 And the limits shall go as far as Zephrona, and the village of Enan. These shall be the borders on the north side. NIV 9 continue to Ziphron and end at Hazar Enan. This will be your boundary on the north. RHE 10 From thence they shall mark out the grounds towards the east side from the village of Enan unto Sephama. NIV 10 “ ‘For your eastern boundary, run a line from Hazar Enan to Shepham. RHE 11 And from Sephama the bounds shall go down to Rebla over against the fountain of Daphnis: from thence they shall come eastward to the sea of Cenereth, NIV 11 The boundary will go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain and continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Galilee. RHE 12 And shall reach as far as the Jordan, and at the last shall be closed in by the most salt sea. This shall be your land with its borders round about. NIV 12 Then the boundary will go down along the Jordan and end at the Dead Sea. “ ‘This will be your land, with its boundaries on every side.’ ” RHE 13 And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying: This shall be the land which you shall possess by lot, and which the Lord hath commanded to be given to the nine tribes, and to the half tribe. NIV 13 Moses commanded the Israelites: “Assign this land by lot as an inheritance. The LORD has ordered that it be given to the nine-and-a-half tribes, RHE 14 For the tribe of the children of Ruben by their families, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to the number of their kindreds, and half of the tribe of Manasses, NIV 14 because the families of the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance. RHE 15 That is, two tribes and a half, have received their portion beyond the Jordan over against Jericho at the east side. NIV 15 These two-and-a-half tribes have received their inheritance east of the Jordan across from Jericho, toward the sunrise.” RHE 16 And the Lord said to Moses: NIV 16 The LORD said to Moses, RHE 17 These are the names of the men, that shall divide the land unto you: Eleazar the priest, and Josue the son of Nun, NIV 17 “These are the names of the men who are to assign the land for you as an inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun. RHE 18 And one prince of every tribe, NIV 18 And appoint one leader from each tribe to help assign the land. RHE 19 Whose names are these: Of the tribe of Juda, Caleb the son of Jephone. NIV 19 These are their names: Caleb son of Jephunneh, from the tribe of Judah; RHE 20 Of the tribe of Simeon, Samuel the son of Ammiud. NIV 20 Shemuel son of Ammihud, from the tribe of Simeon; RHE 21 Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chaselon. NIV 21 Elidad son of Kislon, from the tribe of Benjamin; RHE 22 Of the tribe of the children of Dan, Bocci the son of Jogli. NIV 22 Bukki son of Jogli, the leader from the tribe of Dan; RHE 23 Of the children of Joseph of the tribe of Manasses, Hanniel the son of Ephod. NIV 23 Hanniel son of Ephod, the leader from the tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph; RHE 24 Of the tribe of Ephraim, Camuel the son of Sephtan. NIV 24 Kemuel son of Shiphtan, the leader from the tribe of Ephraim son of Joseph; RHE 25 Of the tribe of Zabulon, Elisaphan the son of Pharnach. NIV 25 Elizaphan son of Parnak, the leader from the tribe of Zebulun; RHE 26 Of the tribe of Issachar, Phaltiel the prince, the son of Ozan. NIV 26 Paltiel son of Azzan, the leader from the tribe of Issachar; RHE 27 Of the tribe of Aser, Ahiud the son of Salomi. NIV 27 Ahihud son of Shelomi, the leader from the tribe of Asher; RHE 28 Of the tribe of Nephtali: Phedael the son of Ammiud. NIV 28 Pedahel son of Ammihud, the leader from the tribe of Naphtali.” RHE 29 These are they Whom the Lord hath commanded to divide the land of Chanaan to the children of Israel. NIV 29 These are the men the LORD commanded to assign the inheritance to the Israelites in the land of Canaan.
