1 Or i capi famiglia del figliuoli di Galaad, figliuolo di Makir, figliuolo di Manasse, di tra le famiglie de’ figliuoli di Giuseppe, si fecero avanti a parlare in presenza di Mosè e dei principi capi famiglia dei figliuoli d’Israele,

2 e dissero: "L’Eterno ha ordinato al mio signore di dare il paese in eredità ai figliuoli d’Israele, a sorte; e il mio signore ha pure ricevuto l’ordine dall’Eterno di dare l’eredità di Tselofehad, nostro fratello, alle figliuole di lui.

3 Se queste si maritano a qualcuno de’ figliuoli delle altre tribù de’ figliuoli d’Israele, la loro eredità sarà detratta dall’eredità de’ nostri padri, o aggiunta all’eredità della tribù nella quale esse saranno entrate; così sarà detratta dall’eredità che ci è toccata a sorte.

4 E quando verrà il giubileo per i figliuoli d’Israele, la loro eredità sarà aggiunta a quella della tribù nella quale saranno entrate, e l’eredità loro sarà detratta dalla eredità della tribù de’ nostri padri".

5 E Mosè trasmise ai figliuoli d’Israele questi ordini dell’Eterno, dicendo: "La tribù dei figliuoli di Giuseppe dice bene.

6 Questo è quel che l’Eterno ha ordinato riguardo alle figliuole di Tselofehad: si mariteranno a chi vorranno, purché si maritino in una famiglia della tribù de’ loro padri.

7 Cosicché, nessuna eredità, tra i figliuoli d’Israele, passerà da una tribù all’altra, poiché ciascuno dei figliuoli d’Israele si terrà stretto all’eredità della tribù dei suoi padri.

8 E ogni fanciulla che possiede un’eredità in una delle tribù de’ figliuoli d’Israele, si mariterà a qualcuno d’una famiglia della tribù di suo padre, affinché ognuno dei figliuoli d’Israele possegga l’eredità de’ suoi padri.

9 Così nessuna eredità passerà da una tribù all’altra, ma ognuna delle tribù de’ figliuoli d’Israele si terrà stretta alla propria eredità".

10 Le figliuole di Tselofehad si conformarono all’ordine che l’Eterno aveva dato a Mosè.

11 Mahlah, Thirtsah, Hoglah, Milcah e Noah, figliuole di Tselofehad, si maritarono coi figliuoli dei loro zii;

12 si maritarono nelle famiglie de’ figliuoli di Manasse, figliuolo di Giuseppe, e la loro eredità rimase nella tribù della famiglia del padre loro.

13 Tali sono i comandamenti e le leggi che l’Eterno dette ai figliuoli d’Israele per mezzo di Mosè, nelle pianure di Moab, presso al Giordano, di faccia a Gerico.

1 6 And the Rashei HaAvot of the Mishpekhot of the Bnei Gil`ad Ben Machir Ben Menasheh, of the Mishpekhot of the Bnei Yosef, came near, and spoke before Moshe, and before the Nasiim Rashei Avot of the Bnei Yisroel,

2 And they said, When Hashem commanded adoni to give HaAretz for a nachalah by goral to the Bnei Yisroel, adoni was commanded by Hashem to give the nachalat Tzelophechad achinu unto his banot.

3 Now suppose they become married to any of the Bnei Shivtei Bnei Yisroel, and their nachalah be taken from the nachalah of Avoteinu, and be added to the nachalah of the matteh whereunto they marry into; so shall it be taken from the goral of our nachalah.

4 And when the Yovel of the Bnei Yisroel shall be, then shall their nachalah be added unto the nachalah of the matteh whereunto they marry into; so shall their nachalah be taken away from the nachalah of the matteh of Avoteinu. [See Leviticus 25:8-55; 27:16-25.]

5 And Moshe commanded the Bnei Yisroel according to the command of Hashem, saying, The matteh of the Bnei Yosef hath said well.

6 This is the thing which Hashem doth command concerning the Banot Tzelophechad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only within the Mishpakhat Matteh Avihem shall they marry.

7 So shall not the nachalah of the Bnei Yisroel remove from matteh to matteh; for every ish of the Bnei Yisroel shall keep himself to the nachalat matteh of his Avot.

8 And every bat, that possesseth a nachalah in mattot Bnei Yisroel, shall be isha unto one of the mishpakhat matteh of her av, that the Bnei Yisroel may possess every ish the nachalat of his avot.

9 Neither shall the nachalah remove from one matteh (tribe) to another matteh (tribe); for the mattot (tribes) of the Bnei Yisroel shall make deveykus every ish to his own nachalah.

10 Even as Hashem commanded Moshe, so did the Banot Tzelophechad;

11 For Machlah, Tirtzah, and Choglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the Banot Tzelophechad, became nashim unto bnai dodeihen (sons of their uncles, i.e., cousins);

12 And they became nashim into the mishpekhot Bnei Menasheh Ben Yosef, and their nachalah remained in the matteh (tribe) of the mishpakhat of their av.

13 These are the mitzvot and the mishpatim, which Hashem commanded by the yad Moshe unto the Bnei Yisroel in the plains of Moav by Yarden near Yericho.
