1 También estos son proverbios de Salomón, los cuales copiaron los varones de Ezequías, rey de Judá

2 Honra de Dios <em>es</em> encubrir la palabra; mas honra del rey <em>es</em> escudriñar la palabra

3 Para la altura de los cielos, y para la profundidad de la tierra, y para el corazón de los reyes, no hay investigación

4 Quita las escorias de la plata, y saldrá vaso al fundidor

5 Aparta al impío de la presencia del rey, y su trono se afirmará en justicia

6 No te alabes delante del rey, ni estés en el lugar de los grandes

7 porque mejor es que se te diga: Sube acá, que no que seas abajado delante del príncipe <em>a</em> quien <em>han</em> mirado tus ojos

8 No salgas a pleito presto, no sea que no sepas qué hacer al fin, después que tu prójimo te haya avergonzado

9 Trata tu causa con tu compañero, y no descubras el secreto a otro

10 para que no te deshonre el que lo oyere, y tu infamia no pueda repararse

11 Manzana de oro con figuras de plata <em>es</em> la palabra dicha como conviene

12 <em>Como</em> zarcillo de oro y joyel de oro fino, es el que reprende al sabio que tiene oído dócil

13 Como frío de nieve en tiempo de la siega, <em>así es</em> el mensajero fiel a los que lo envían; pues al alma de su señor da refrigerio

14 <em>Como</em> nubes y vientos sin lluvia, así es el hombre que se jacta en don de mentira

15 Con larga paciencia se aplaca el príncipe; y la lengua blanda quebranta los huesos

16 ¿Hallaste la miel? Come lo que te basta; no sea que hastiado de ella, la vomites

17 Detén tu pie de la casa de tu prójimo, no sea que hastiado de ti te aborrezca

18 Martillo y cuchillo y saeta aguda, <em>es</em> el hombre que habla contra su prójimo falso testimonio

19 Diente quebrado y pie resbalador, <em>es</em> la confianza en el prevaricador en el tiempo de angustia

20 El que canta canciones al corazón afligido, <em>es como</em> el que quita la ropa en tiempo de frío, o el que sobre el jabón <em>echa</em> vinagre

21 Si el que te aborrece tuviere hambre, dale de comer pan; y si tuviere sed, dale de beber agua

22 porque ascuas amontonarás sobre su cabeza, y el SEÑOR te lo pagará

23 El viento del norte ahuyenta la lluvia, y el rostro airado la lengua detractora

24 Mejor es estar en un rincón del terrado, que con la mujer rencillosa en casa espaciosa

25 <em>Como</em> el agua fría al alma sedienta, así <em>son</em> las buenas nuevas de lejanas tierras

26 <em>Como</em> fuente turbia y manantial corrompido, es el justo que se inclina delante del impío

27 Comer mucha miel no <em>es</em> bueno; ni inquirir de su <em>propia</em> gloria es gloria

28 <em>Como</em> ciudad derribada y sin muro, <em>es</em> el hombre cuyo espíritu no tiene rienda

1 These are more proverbs of Solomon, compiled by the men of Hezekiah king of Judah:

2 It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.

3 As the heavens are high and the earth is deep, so the hearts of kings are unsearchable.

4 Remove the dross from the silver, and a silversmith can produce a vessel;

5 remove wicked officials from the king’s presence, and his throne will be established through righteousness.

6 Do not exalt yourself in the king’s presence, and do not claim a place among his great men;

7 it is better for him to say to you, “Come up here,” than for him to humiliate you before his nobles. What you have seen with your eyes

8 do not bring hastily to court, for what will you do in the end if your neighbor puts you to shame?

9 If you take your neighbor to court, do not betray another’s confidence,

10 or the one who hears it may shame you and the charge against you will stand.

11 Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a ruling rightly given.

12 Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is the rebuke of a wise judge to a listening ear.

13 Like a snow-cooled drink at harvest time is a trustworthy messenger to the one who sends him; he refreshes the spirit of his master.

14 Like clouds and wind without rain is one who boasts of gifts never given.

15 Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone.

16 If you find honey, eat just enough— too much of it, and you will vomit.

17 Seldom set foot in your neighbor’s house— too much of you, and they will hate you.

18 Like a club or a sword or a sharp arrow is one who gives false testimony against a neighbor.

19 Like a broken tooth or a lame foot is reliance on the unfaithful in a time of trouble.

20 Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar poured on a wound, is one who sings songs to a heavy heart.

21 If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.

22 In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you.

23 Like a north wind that brings unexpected rain is a sly tongue—which provokes a horrified look.

24 Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

25 Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land.

26 Like a muddied spring or a polluted well are the righteous who give way to the wicked.

27 It is not good to eat too much honey, nor is it honorable to search out matters that are too deep.

28 Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.
