Proverbs 11

RHE 1 A deceitful balance is an abomination before the Lord: and a just weight is his will. NIV 1 The LORD detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him. RHE 2 Where pride is, there also shall be reproach: but where humility is, there also is wisdom. NIV 2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. RHE 3 The simplicity of the just shall guide them: and the deceitfulness of the wicked shall destroy them. NIV 3 The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity. RHE 4 Riches shall not profit in the day of revenge: but justice shall deliver from death. NIV 4 Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. RHE 5 The justice of the upright shall make his way prosperous: and the wicked man shall fall by his own wickedness. NIV 5 The righteousness of the blameless makes their paths straight, but the wicked are brought down by their own wickedness. RHE 6 The justice of the righteous shall deliver them: and the unjust shall be caught in their own snares. NIV 6 The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the unfaithful are trapped by evil desires. RHE 7 When the wicked man is dead, there shall be no hope any more: and the expectation of the solicitous shall perish. NIV 7 Hopes placed in mortals die with them; all the promise of their power comes to nothing. RHE 8 The just is delivered out of distress: and the wicked shall be given up for him. NIV 8 The righteous person is rescued from trouble, and it falls on the wicked instead. RHE 9 The dissembler with his mouth deceiveth his friend: but the just shall be delivered by knowledge. NIV 9 With their mouths the godless destroy their neighbors, but through knowledge the righteous escape. RHE 10 When it goeth well with the just, the city shall rejoice: and when the wicked perish, there shall be praise. NIV 10 When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy. RHE 11 By the blessing of the just the city shall be exalted: and by the mouth of the wicked it shall be overthrown. NIV 11 Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed. RHE 12 He that despiseth his friend, is mean of heart: but the wise man will hold his peace. NIV 12 Whoever derides their neighbor has no sense, but the one who has understanding holds their tongue. RHE 13 He that walketh deceitfully, revealeth secrets: but he that is faithful, concealeth the thing committed to him by his friend. NIV 13 A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret. RHE 14 Where there is no governor, the people shall fall: but there is safety where there is much counsel. NIV 14 For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers. RHE 15 He shall be afflicted with evil, that is surety for a stranger: but he that is aware of snares, shall be secure. NIV 15 Whoever puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer, but whoever refuses to shake hands in pledge is safe. RHE 16 A gracious woman shall find glory: and the strong shall have riches. NIV 16 A kindhearted woman gains honor, but ruthless men gain only wealth. RHE 17 A merciful man doth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel casteth off even his own kindred. NIV 17 Those who are kind benefit themselves, but the cruel bring ruin on themselves. RHE 18 The wicked maketh an unsteady work: but to him that soweth justice, there is a faithful reward. NIV 18 A wicked person earns deceptive wages, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward. RHE 19 Clemency prepareth life: and the pursuing of evil things, death. NIV 19 Truly the righteous attain life, but whoever pursues evil finds death. RHE 20 A perverse heart is abominable to the Lord: and his will is in them that walk sincerely. NIV 20 The LORD detests those whose hearts are perverse, but he delights in those whose ways are blameless. RHE 21 Hand in hand the evil man shall not be innocent: but the seed of the just shall be saved. NIV 21 Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free. RHE 22 A golden ring in a swine’s snout, a woman fair and foolish. NIV 22 Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion. RHE 23 The desire of the just is all good, the expectation of the wicked is indignation. NIV 23 The desire of the righteous ends only in good, but the hope of the wicked only in wrath. RHE 24 Some distribute their own goods, and grow richer: others take away what is not their own, and are always in want. NIV 24 One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. RHE 25 The soul that blesseth, shall be made fat: and he that inebriateth, shall be inebriated also himself. NIV 25 A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. RHE 26 He that hideth up corn, shall be cursed among the people: but a blessing upon the head of them that sell. NIV 26 People curse the one who hoards grain, but they pray God’s blessing on the one who is willing to sell. RHE 27 Well doth he rise early who seeketh good things; but he that seeketh after evil things, shall be oppressed by them. NIV 27 Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it. RHE 28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the just shall spring up as a green leaf. NIV 28 Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. RHE 29 He that troubleth his own house, shall inherit the winds: and the fool shall serve the wise. NIV 29 Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise. RHE 30 The fruit of the just man is a tree of life: and he that gaineth souls is wise. NIV 30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives. RHE 31 If the just man receive in the earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner. NIV 31 If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner!
