Praise the Lord! Happy are those who fear the Lord, who greatly delight in his commandments.
2 Sein Same wird mächtig sein im Lande; es wird gesegnet werden das Geschlecht der Aufrichtigen.

Their descendants will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Vermögen und Reichtum wird in seinem Hause sein, und seine Gerechtigkeit besteht ewiglich.

Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever.
4 Den Aufrichtigen geht Licht auf in der Finsternis; er ist gnädig und barmherzig und gerecht.

They rise in the darkness as a light for the upright; they are gracious, merciful, and righteous.
5 Wohl dem Manne, der gnädig ist und leiht! Er wird seine Sachen durchführen im Gericht;

It is well with those who deal generously and lend, who conduct their affairs with justice.
6 denn in Ewigkeit wird er nicht wanken. Zum ewigen Andenken wird der Gerechte sein.

For the righteous will never be moved; they will be remembered forever.
7 Nicht wird er sich fürchten vor böser Kunde; fest ist sein Herz, vertrauend auf Jehova.

They are not afraid of evil tidings; their hearts are firm, secure in the Lord.
8 Befestigt ist sein Herz; er fürchtet sich nicht, bis er seine Lust sieht an seinen Bedrängern.

Their hearts are steady, they will not be afraid; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
9 Er streut aus, gibt den Armen; seine Gerechtigkeit besteht ewiglich; sein Horn wird erhöht werden in Ehre.

They have distributed freely, they have given to the poor; their righteousness endures forever; their horn is exalted in honor.
10 Der Gesetzlose wird es sehen und sich ärgern; mit seinen Zähnen wird er knirschen und vergehen; das Begehren der Gesetzlosen wird untergehen.

The wicked see it and are angry; they gnash their teeth and melt away; the desire of the wicked comes to nothing.
