Psalm 28

CEB 1 I cry out to you, LORD. You are my rock; don't refuse to hear me. If you won't talk to me, I'll be just like those going down to the pit. NRS 1 To you, O Lord, I call; my rock, do not refuse to hear me, for if you are silent to me, I shall be like those who go down to the Pit. CEB 2 Listen to my request for mercy when I cry out to you, when I lift up my hands to your holy inner sanctuary. NRS 2 Hear the voice of my supplication, as I cry to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your most holy sanctuary. CEB 3 Don't drag me off with the wicked and those who do evil; the type who talk nice to their friends while evil thoughts are in their hearts! NRS 3 Do not drag me away with the wicked, with those who are workers of evil, who speak peace with their neighbors, while mischief is in their hearts. CEB 4 Pay them back for what they've done! Pay them back for their evil deeds! Pay them back for their handiwork! Give back to them exactly what they deserve! NRS 4 Repay them according to their work, and according to the evil of their deeds; repay them according to the work of their hands; render them their due reward. CEB 5 Because they have no regard for what the LORD has done, no regard for his handiwork, God will tear them down and never rebuild! NRS 5 Because they do not regard the works of the Lord, or the work of his hands, he will break them down and build them up no more. CEB 6 Bless the LORD because he has listened to my request for mercy! NRS 6 Blessed be the Lord, for he has heard the sound of my pleadings. CEB 7 The LORD is my strength and my shield. My heart trusts him. I was helped, my heart rejoiced, and I thank him with my song. NRS 7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts; so I am helped, and my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. CEB 8 The LORD is his people's strength; he is a fortress of protection for his anointed one. NRS 8 The Lord is the strength of his people; he is the saving refuge of his anointed. CEB 9 Save your people, God! Bless your possession! Shepherd them and carry them for all time! NRS 9 O save your people, and bless your heritage; be their shepherd, and carry them forever.
