Psalm 45

GNT 1 Beautiful words fill my mind, as I compose this song for the king. Like the pen of a good writer my tongue is ready with a poem. NIV 1 My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer. GNT 2 You are the most handsome of men; you are an eloquent speaker. God has always blessed you. NIV 2 You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever. GNT 3 Buckle on your sword, mighty king; you are glorious and majestic. NIV 3 Gird your sword on your side, you mighty one; clothe yourself with splendor and majesty. GNT 4 Ride on in majesty to victory for the defense of truth and justice! Your strength will win you great victories! NIV 4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously in the cause of truth, humility and justice; let your right hand achieve awesome deeds. GNT 5 Your arrows are sharp, they pierce the hearts of your enemies; nations fall down at your feet. NIV 5 Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies; let the nations fall beneath your feet. GNT 6 The kingdom that God has given you will last forever and ever. You rule over your people with justice; NIV 6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. GNT 7 you love what is right and hate what is evil. That is why God, your God, has chosen you and has poured out more happiness on you than on any other king. NIV 7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy. GNT 8 The perfume of myrrh and aloes is on your clothes; musicians entertain you in palaces decorated with ivory. NIV 8 All your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia; from palaces adorned with ivory the music of the strings makes you glad. GNT 9 Among the women of your court are daughters of kings, and at the right of your throne stands the queen, wearing ornaments of finest gold. NIV 9 Daughters of kings are among your honored women; at your right hand is the royal bride in gold of Ophir. GNT 10 Bride of the king, listen to what I say - forget your people and your relatives. NIV 10 Listen, daughter, and pay careful attention: Forget your people and your father’s house. GNT 11 Your beauty will make the king desire you; he is your master, so you must obey him. NIV 11 Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord. GNT 12 The people of Tyre will bring you gifts; rich people will try to win your favor. NIV 12 The city of Tyre will come with a gift,people of wealth will seek your favor. GNT 13 The princess is in the palace - how beautiful she is! Her gown is made of gold thread. NIV 13 All glorious is the princess within her chamber; her gown is interwoven with gold. GNT 14 In her colorful gown she is led to the king, followed by her bridesmaids, and they also are brought to him. NIV 14 In embroidered garments she is led to the king; her virgin companions follow her— those brought to be with her. GNT 15 With joy and gladness they come and enter the king's palace. NIV 15 Led in with joy and gladness, they enter the palace of the king. GNT 16 You, my king, will have many sons to succeed your ancestors as kings, and you will make them rulers over the whole earth. NIV 16 Your sons will take the place of your fathers; you will make them princes throughout the land. GNT 17 My song will keep your fame alive forever, and everyone will praise you for all time to come. NIV 17 I will perpetuate your memory through all generations; therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.
