Psalm 64

NKJV 1 To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation; Preserve my life from fear of the enemy. NIV 1 Hear me, my God, as I voice my complaint; protect my life from the threat of the enemy. NKJV 2 Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, From the rebellion of the workers of iniquity, NIV 2 Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from the plots of evildoers. NKJV 3 Who sharpen their tongue like a sword, And bend their bows to shoot their arrows--bitter words, NIV 3 They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim cruel words like deadly arrows. NKJV 4 That they may shoot in secret at the blameless; Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear. NIV 4 They shoot from ambush at the innocent; they shoot suddenly, without fear. NKJV 5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter; They talk of laying snares secretly; They say, "Who will see them?" NIV 5 They encourage each other in evil plans, they talk about hiding their snares; they say, “Who will see it ?” NKJV 6 They devise iniquities: "We have perfected a shrewd scheme." Both the inward thought and the heart of man are deep. NIV 6 They plot injustice and say, “We have devised a perfect plan!” Surely the human mind and heart are cunning. NKJV 7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; Suddenly they shall be wounded. NIV 7 But God will shoot them with his arrows; they will suddenly be struck down. NKJV 8 So He will make them stumble over their own tongue; All who see them shall flee away. NIV 8 He will turn their own tongues against them and bring them to ruin; all who see them will shake their heads in scorn. NKJV 9 All men shall fear, And shall declare the work of God; For they shall wisely consider His doing. NIV 9 All people will fear; they will proclaim the works of God and ponder what he has done. NKJV 10 The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and trust in Him. And all the upright in heart shall glory. NIV 10 The righteous will rejoice in the LORDand take refuge in him; all the upright in heart will glory in him!
