1 Ein Psalm, ein Lied. Für den Tag des Sabbaths. Es ist gut, Jehova zu preisen, und Psalmen zu singen deinem Namen, o Höchster!

It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
2 Am Morgen zu verkünden deine Güte, und deine Treue in den Nächten,

to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night,
3 zum Zehnsait und zur Harfe, zum Saitenspiel mit der Laute.

to the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre.
4 Denn du hast mich erfreut, Jehova, durch dein Tun; über die Werke deiner Hände will ich jubeln.

For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy.
5 Wie groß sind deine Werke, Jehova! Sehr tief sind deine Gedanken.

How great are your works, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep!
6 Ein unvernünftiger Mensch erkennt es nicht, und ein Tor versteht solches nicht.

The dullard cannot know, the stupid cannot understand this:
7 Wenn die Gesetzlosen sprossen wie Gras, und alle, die Frevel tun, blühen, so geschieht es, damit sie vertilgt werden für immer.

though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever,
8 Du aber bist erhaben auf ewig, Jehova!

but you, O Lord, are on high forever.
9 Denn siehe, deine Feinde, Jehova, denn siehe, deine Feinde werden umkommen; es werden zerstreut werden alle, die Frevel tun.

For your enemies, O Lord, for your enemies shall perish; all evildoers shall be scattered.
10 Aber du wirst mein Horn erhöhen gleich dem eines Wildochsen; mit frischem Öle werde ich übergossen werden.

But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; you have poured over me fresh oil.
11 Und mein Auge wird seine Lust sehen an meinen Feinden, meine Ohren werden ihre Lust hören an den Übeltätern, die wider mich aufstehen.

My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants.
12 Der Gerechte wird sprossen wie der Palmbaum, wie eine Zeder auf dem Libanon wird er emporwachsen.

The righteous flourish like the palm tree, and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Die gepflanzt sind in dem Hause Jehovas, werden blühen in den Vorhöfen unseres Gottes.

They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God.
14 Noch im Greisenalter treiben sie, sind saftvoll und grün,

In old age they still produce fruit; they are always green and full of sap,
15 um zu verkünden, daß Jehova gerecht ist. Er ist mein Fels, und kein Unrecht ist in ihm.

showing that the Lord is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
