1 From the depths of my despair I call to you, Lord.

<<A Song of Ascents. >> Out of the depths I have cried to you, Yahweh.
2 Hear my cry, O Lord; listen to my call for help!

Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions.
3 If you kept a record of our sins, who could escape being condemned?

If you, Yah, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?
4 But you forgive us, so that we should stand in awe of you.

But there is forgiveness with you, Therefore you are feared.
5 I wait eagerly for the Lord's help, and in his word I trust.

I wait for Yahweh. My soul waits. I hope in his word.
6 I wait for the Lord more eagerly than sentries wait for the dawn - than sentries wait for the dawn.

My soul longs for the Lord more than watchmen long for the morning; More than watchmen for the morning.
7 Israel, trust in the Lord, because his love is constant and he is always willing to save.

Israel, hope in Yahweh, For with Yahweh there is lovingkindness. With him is abundant redemption.
8 He will save his people Israel from all their sins.

He will redeem Israel from all their sins.
