The Message Bible MSG
1 A psalm of David: Give ADONAI his due, you who are godly; give ADONAI his due of glory and strength;
1
Bravo, God, bravo! Gods and all angels shout, "Encore!"
2 give ADONAI the glory due his name; worship ADONAI in holy splendor.
2
In awe before the glory, in awe before God's visible power. Stand at attention! Dress your best to honor him!
3 The voice of ADONAI is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, ADONAI over rushing waters,
3
God thunders across the waters, Brilliant, his voice and his face, streaming brightness - God, across the flood waters.
4 the voice of ADONAI in power, the voice of ADONAI in splendor.
4
God's thunder tympanic, God's thunder symphonic.
5 The voice of ADONAI cracks the cedars; ADONAI splinters the cedars of the L'vanon
5
God's thunder smashes cedars, God topples the northern cedars.
6 and makes the L'vanon skip like a calf, Siryon like a young wild ox.
6
The mountain ranges skip like spring colts, The high ridges jump like wild kid goats.
7 The voice of ADONAI flashes fiery flames;
7
God's thunder spits fire.
8 the voice of ADONAI rocks the desert, ADONAI convulses the Kadesh Desert.
8
God thunders, the wilderness quakes; He makes the desert of Kadesh shake.
9 The voice of ADONAI causes deer to give birth and strips the forests bare -while in his temple, all cry, "Glory!"
9
God's thunder sets the oak trees dancing A wild dance, whirling; the pelting rain strips their branches. We fall to our knees - we call out, "Glory!"
10 ADONAI sits enthroned above the flood! ADONAI sits enthroned as king forever!
10
Above the floodwaters is God's throne from which his power flows, from which he rules the world.
11 May ADONAI give strength to his people! May ADONAI bless his people with shalom!
11
God makes his people strong. God gives his people peace.
