Psalm 3

RHE

MSG

1 <The psalm of David when he fled from the face of his son Absalom.> (3:1)
1 God! Look! Enemies past counting! Enemies sprouting like mushrooms,
2 Many say to my soul: There is no salvation for him in his God.
2 Mobs of them all around me, roaring their mockery: "Hah! No help for him from God!"
3 But thou, O Lord, art my protector, my glory, and the lifter up of my head.
3 But you, God, shield me on all sides; You ground my feet, you lift my head high;
4 I have cried to the Lord with my voice: and he hath heard me from his holy hill.
4 With all my might I shout up to God, His answers thunder from the holy mountain.
5 I have slept and have taken my rest: and I have risen up, because the Lord hath protected me.
5 I stretch myself out. I sleep. Then I'm up again - rested, tall and steady,
6 I will not fear thousands of the people surrounding me: arise, O Lord; save me, O my God.
6 Fearless before the enemy mobs Coming at me from all sides.
7 For thou hast struck all them who are my adversaries without cause: thou hast broken the teeth of sinners.
7 Up, God! My God, help me! Slap their faces, First this cheek, then the other, Your fist hard in their teeth!
8 Salvation is of the Lord: and thy blessing is upon thy people.
8 Real help comes from God. Your blessing clothes your people!
