Psalms 57

MSG

KJV

1 Be good to me, God - and now! I've run to you for dear life. I'm hiding out under your wings until the hurricane blows over.
1 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.
2 I call out to High God, the God who holds me together.
2 I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.
3 He sends orders from heaven and saves me, he humiliates those who kick me around. God delivers generous love, he makes good on his word.
3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.
4 I find myself in a pride of lions who are wild for a taste of human flesh; Their teeth are lances and arrows, their tongues are sharp daggers.
4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
5 Soar high in the skies, O God! Cover the whole earth with your glory!
5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.
6 They booby trapped my path; I thought I was dead and done for. They dug a mantrap to catch me, and fell in headlong themselves.
6 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah.
7 I'm ready, God, so ready, ready from head to toe, Ready to sing, ready to raise a tune:
7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.
8 "Wake up, soul! Wake up, harp! wake up, lute! Wake up, you sleepyhead sun!"
8 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.
9 I'm thanking you, God, out loud in the streets, singing your praises in town and country.
9 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.
10 The deeper your love, the higher it goes; every cloud is a flag to your faithfulness.
10 For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.
11 Soar high in the skies, O God! Cover the whole earth with your glory!
11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.
