The Message Bible MSG
King James Version KJV
1 God! you walked off and left us, kicked our defenses to bits And stalked off angry. Come back. Oh please, come back!
1
O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.
2 You shook earth to the foundations, ripped open huge crevasses. Heal the breaks! Everything's coming apart at the seams.
2
Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
3 You made your people look doom in the face, then gave us cheap wine to drown our troubles.
3
Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.
4 Then you planted a flag to rally your people, an unfurled flag to look to for courage.
4
Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.
5 Now do something quickly, answer right now, so the one you love best is saved.
5
That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me.
6 That's when God spoke in holy splendor, "Bursting with joy, I make a present of Shechem, I hand out Succoth Valley as a gift.
6
God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
7 Gilead's in my pocket, to say nothing of Manasseh. Ephraim's my hard hat, Judah my hammer;
7
Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;
8 Moab's a scrub bucket, I mop the floor with Moab, Spit on Edom, rain fireworks all over Philistia."
8
Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.
9 Who will take me to the thick of the fight? Who'll show me the road to Edom?
9
Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
10 You aren't giving up on us, are you, God? refusing to go out with our troops?
10
Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?
11 Give us help for the hard task; human help is worthless.
11
Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
12 In God we'll do our very best; he'll flatten the opposition for good.
12
Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
