Psalm 65

CJB

MSG

1 For the leader. A psalm of David. A song: To you, God, in Tziyon, silence is praise; and vows to you are to be fulfilled.
1 Silence is praise to you, Zion-dwelling God, And also obedience.
2 You who listen to prayer, to you all living creatures come.
2 You hear the prayer in it all. We all arrive at your doorstep sooner or later, loaded with guilt,
3 When deeds of wickedness overwhelm me, you will atone for our crimes.
3 Our sins too much for us - but you get rid of them once and for all.
4 How blessed are those you choose and bring near, so that they can remain in your courtyards! We will be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the Holy Place of your temple.
4 Blessed are the chosen! Blessed the guest at home in your place! We expect our fill of good things in your house, your heavenly manse.
5 It is just that you answer us with awesome deeds, God of our salvation, you in whom all put their trust, to the ends of the earth and on distant seas.
5 All your salvation wonders are on display in your trophy room. Earth-Tamer, Ocean-Pourer,
6 By your strength you set up the mountains. You are clothed with power.
6 Mountain-Maker, Hill-Dresser,
7 You still the roaring of the seas, their crashing waves, and the peoples' turmoil.
7 Muzzler of sea storm and wave crash, of mobs in noisy riot -
8 This is why those living at the ends of the earth stand in awe of your signs. The places where the sun rises and sets you cause to sing for joy.
8 Far and wide they'll come to a stop, they'll stare in awe, in wonder. Dawn and dusk take turns calling, "Come and worship."
9 You care for the earth and water it, you enrich it greatly; with the river of God, full of water, you provide them grain and prepare the ground.
9 Oh, visit the earth, ask her to join the dance! Deck her out in spring showers, fill the God-River with living water. Paint the wheat fields golden. Creation was made for this!
10 Soaking its furrows and settling its soil, you soften it with showers and bless its growth.
10 Drench the plowed fields, soak the dirt clods With rainfall as harrow and rake bring her to blossom and fruit.
11 You crown the year with your goodness, your tracks overflow with richness.
11 Snow-crown the peaks with splendor, scatter rose petals down your paths,
12 The desert pastures drip water, the hills are wrapped with joy,
12 All through the wild meadows, rose petals. Set the hills to dancing,
13 the meadows are clothed with flocks and the valleys blanketed with grain, so they shout for joy and break into song.
13 Dress the canyon walls with live sheep, a drape of flax across the valleys. Let them shout, and shout, and shout! Oh, oh, let them sing!
