Psalm 75

NRS

CEB

1 We give thanks to you, O God; we give thanks; your name is near. People tell of your wondrous deeds.
1 We give thanks to you, God. Yes, we give thanks! Your name is near. Your marvelous deeds are declared.
2 At the set time that I appoint I will judge with equity.
2 God says,"When I decide the time is right, I will establish justice just so.
3 When the earth totters, with all its inhabitants, it is I who keep its pillars steady. (Selah)
3 The earth and all its inhabitants will melt, but I will keep its pillars steady." Selah
4 I say to the boastful, "Do not boast," and to the wicked, "Do not lift up your horn;
4 I said to the arrogant, "Don't be arrogant!" To the wicked I said, "Don't exalt your strength!
5 do not lift up your horn on high, or speak with insolent neck."
5 Don't exalt your strength so highly. Don't speak so arrogantly against the rock."
6 For not from the east or from the west and not from the wilderness comes lifting up;
6 Because what exalts someone doesn't come from the east or west; it's not from the south either.
7 but it is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another.
7 Rather it is God who is the judge. He brings this person down, but that person he lifts up.
8 For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup with foaming wine, well mixed; he will pour a draught from it, and all the wicked of the earth shall drain it down to the dregs.
8 Indeed, there's a cup in the LORD's hand full of foaming wine, mixed with spice. He will pour it out, and all of the earth's wicked people must drink it; they must drink every last drop!
9 But I will rejoice forever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
9 But I will rejoice always; I will sing praises to Jacob's God!
10 All the horns of the wicked I will cut off, but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
10 God says: "I will demolish every bit of the wicked's power, but the strength of the righteous will be lifted up."
