1 <A Psalm. Of Asaph.> O God, the nations have come into your heritage; they have made your holy Temple unclean; they have made Jerusalem a mass of broken walls.
1 9 (A Mizmor. Of Asaph) O Elohim, the Goyim are come into Thine Nachalah; Thy Heikhal Kodesh have they defiled; they have reduced Yerushalayim to rubble.
2 They have given the bodies of your servants as food to the birds of the air, and the flesh of your saints to the beasts of the earth.
2 The dead bodies of Thy avadim have they given to be food unto the oph HaShomayim, the basar of Thy Chasidim, unto the beasts of the earth.
3 Their blood has been flowing like water round about Jerusalem; there was no one to put them in their last resting-place.
3 Their shefach dahm (shedding of blood) is like mayim all around Yerushalayim; and there is none to bury them.
4 We are looked down on by our neighbours, we are laughed at and made sport of by those who are round us.
4 We are become a reproach to our shekhenim (neighbors), a scorn and derision to them that are around us.
5 How long, O Lord? will you be angry for ever? will your wrath go on burning like fire?
5 How long, Hashem? Wilt Thou be angry lanetzach (forever)? Shall Thy kina (jealousy) burn like eish?
6 Let your wrath be on the nations who have no knowledge of you, and on the kingdoms who have not made prayer to your name.
6 Pour out Thy wrath upon the Goyim that have no da’as of Thee, and upon the mamlachot that have not called upon Thy Shem.
7 For they have taken Jacob for their meat, and made waste his house.
7 For they have devoured Ya’akov, and laid waste his naveh (home).
8 Do not keep in mind against us the sins of our fathers; let your mercy come to us quickly, for we have been made very low.
8 O remember not against us avonot rishonim (former iniquities); let Thy rachamim speedily come to us; for we are brought very low.
9 Give us help, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; take us out of danger and give us forgiveness for our sins, because of your name.
9 Help us, O Elohei Yisheinu, (G-d of our salvation), for the kavod of Thy Shem; and deliver us, and make kapporah for our sins, for Thy Name’s sake.
10 Why may the nations say, Where is their God? Let payment for the blood of your servants be made openly among the nations before our eyes.
10 Why should the Goyim say, Where is Eloheihem? Let there be known among the Goyim in our sight, vengeance for the shefach dahm of Thy avadim.
11 Let the cry of the prisoner come before you; with your strong arm make free the children of death;
11 Let the groaning of the asir (prisoner) come before Thee; according to the greatness of Thy Zero’a preserve Thou those that are Bnei Temutah (sons of death, i.e., appointed to die, doomed to die);
12 And give punishment seven times over into the breast of our neighbours for the bitter words which they have said against you, O Lord.
12 And repay unto our shekhenim (neighbors) sevenfold into their kheyk their reproach, wherewith they have reproached Thee, Adonoi.
13 So we your people, and the sheep of your flock, will give you glory for ever: we will go on praising you through all generations.
13 So we Thy people and tzon of Thy pasture will give Thee thanks l’olahm (forever); we will show forth Thy praise l’dor vador.
