CEB

1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
1 Living in the Most High's shelter, camping in the Almighty's shade,
2 will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust."
2 I say to the LORD, "You are my refuge, my stronghold! You are my God—the one I trust!"
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence;
3 God will save you from the hunter's trap and from deadly sickness.
4 he will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
4 God will protect you with his pinions; you'll find refuge under his wings. His faithfulness is a protective shield.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night, or the arrow that flies by day,
5 Don't be afraid of terrors at night, arrows that fly in daylight,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness, or the destruction that wastes at noonday.
6 or sickness that prowls in the dark, destruction that ravages at noontime.
7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
7 Even if one thousand people fall dead next to you, ten thousand right beside you— it won't happen to you.
8 You will only look with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.
8 Just look with your eyes, and you will see the wicked punished.
9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge, the Most High your dwelling place,
9 Because you've made the LORD my refuge, the Most High, your place of residence—
10 no evil shall befall you, no scourge come near your tent.
10 no evil will happen to you; no disease will come close to your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
11 Because he will order his messengers to help you, to protect you wherever you go.
12 On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
12 They will carry you with their own hands so you don't bruise your foot on a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder, the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.
13 You'll march on top of lions and vipers; you'll trample young lions and serpents underfoot.
14 Those who love me, I will deliver; I will protect those who know my name.
14 God says,"Because you are devoted to me, I'll rescue you. I'll protect you because you know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble, I will rescue them and honor them.
15 Whenever you cry out to me, I'll answer. I'll be with you in troubling times. I'll save you and glorify you.
16 With long life I will satisfy them, and show them my salvation.
16 I'll fill you full with old age. I'll show you my salvation."
