Revelation 17

1 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came to me. He said, "Come. I will show you how the great prostitute will be punished. She is the one who sits on many waters.
1 And one of the seven angels came, that had seven vials, and spake with me, and said [saying], Come thou, I shall show to thee the damnation of the great whore, that sitteth on many waters,
2 The kings of the earth took part in her evil ways. The people living on earth were drunk with the wine of her terrible sins."
2 with which kings of the earth did fornication; and they that dwell in the earth be made drunk of the wine of her lechery.
3 Then the angel carried me away in a vision. The Holy Spirit took me into a desert. There I saw a woman sitting on a bright red beast. It was covered with names that say evil things that are displeasing to God. It had seven heads and ten horns.
3 And he took me [away] into desert in Spirit. And I saw a woman sitting on a red beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads, and ten horns.
4 The woman was dressed in purple and bright red. She was gleaming with gold, jewels and pearls. In her hand she held a golden cup filled with things that God hates. It was filled with her terrible, dirty sins.
4 And the woman was environed with purple, and red, and over-gilded with gold [+and engolded/and over-gilt with gold], and precious stone, and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand, full of abominations and uncleanness of her fornication.
5 Here is the name that was written on her forehead. MYSTERY THE GREAT CITY OF BABYLON THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES THE MOTHER OF EVERYTHING ON EARTH THAT GOD HATES
5 And a name written in the forehead of her [And in the forehead of her a name written], Mystery, Babylon the great, mother of fornications, and of abominations [and abominations] of the earth.
6 I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of God's people. They are the ones who gave witness to Jesus. When I saw her, I was very amazed.
6 And I saw a woman drunken of the blood of saints, and of the blood of martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I wondered with great wondering.
7 Then the angel said to me, "Why are you amazed? I will explain to you the mystery of the woman and of the beast she rides on. The beast is the one who has the seven heads and ten horns.
7 And the angel said to me, Why wonderest thou? I shall say to thee the sacrament of the woman, and of the beast that beareth her, that hath seven heads and ten horns.
8 The beast that you saw used to exist. But now he does not. He will come up out of the Abyss. He will be destroyed. Some of the people who live on the earth will be amazed when they see the beast. Their names have not been written in the Book of Life from the time the world was created. They will be amazed because even though the beast used to exist and now does not, he will come again.
8 The beast which thou seest [+The beast that thou saw/which thou sawest], was, and is not; and she shall ascend up from [the] deepness, and she shall go into perishing. And men dwelling in earth shall wonder, whose names be not written in the book of life from the making of the world, seeing the beast, that was, and is not.
9 "Here is a problem that you have to be wise to understand. The seven heads are seven hills that the woman sits on.
9 And this is the wit, who that hath wisdom. The seven heads be seven hills, on which the woman sitteth,
10 They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is ruling, and the other has still not come. When he does come, he must remain for a little while.
10 and kings seven be [and be seven kings]. Five have felled down [Five have fallen down], and one is, and another cometh not yet. And when he shall come, it behooveth him to dwell a short time.
11 "The beast who used to exist, and now does not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the other seven. He will be destroyed.
11 And the beast that was, and is not, and she is the eighth, and is of the seven, and shall go into perishing.
12 "The ten horns you saw are ten kings. They have not yet received a kingdom. But for one hour they will receive authority to rule together with the beast.
12 And the ten horns which thou hast seen, be ten kings, that yet have not taken kingdom; but they shall take power as kings, one hour after the beast.
13 They have only one purpose. So they give their power and authority to the beast.
13 These have one counsel, and shall betake their virtue and power to the beast.
14 They will make war against the Lamb. But the Lamb will overcome them because he is the most powerful Lord of all and the greatest King of all. His appointed, chosen and faithful followers will be with him."
14 These shall fight with the lamb, and the lamb shall overcome them; for he is Lord of lords, and king of kings; and they that be with him, be called, [and] chosen, and faithful.
15 Then the angel spoke to me. "You saw the waters the prostitute sits on," he said. "They stand for all the nations of the world, no matter what their race or language is.
15 And he said to me, The waters which thou hast seen, where the whore sitteth, be peoples, and folks, and languages [and tongues].
16 The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will destroy her and leave her naked. They will eat her flesh and burn her with fire.
16 And the ten horns that thou hast seen in the beast, these shall [hate the fornicary woman, or whore, and shall] make her desolate and naked, and shall eat the fleshes of her, and shall burn together her with fire. [And the ten horns that thou hast seen in the beast, these shall hate the fornicary woman, or whore, and shall make her desolate, and naked, and shall eat the flesh of her, and shall burn her together with fire.]
17 God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose. So they agreed to give the beast their power to rule. They will give him that power until God's words come true.
17 For God gave into the hearts of them, that they do that that is pleasant to him [that they do that that is pleasant before him], that they give their kingdom to the beast, till the words of God be ended.
18 "The woman you saw stands for the great city that rules over the kings of the earth."
18 And the woman whom thou hast seen, is the great city, that hath kingdom on [upon] the kings of the earth.
