1 I, Paul, am writing this letter. I serve Christ Jesus. I have been appointed to be an apostle. God set me apart to tell others his good news.

Paul, the servant of Jesus Christ, called an apostle, separated into the gospel of God [parted into the gospel of God];
2 He promised the good news long ago. He announced it through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures.

which he had promised before by his prophets in holy scriptures
3 The good news is about God's Son. As a human being, the Son of God belonged to King David's family line.

of his Son, which is made to him of the seed of David by the flesh, [of his Son, the which is made of the seed of David after the flesh,]
4 By the power of the Holy Spirit, he was appointed to be the mighty Son of God because he rose from the dead. He is Jesus Christ our Lord.

and he was before-ordained the Son of God in virtue, by the Spirit of hallowing of the again-rising of dead men, of Jesus Christ our Lord [+which is predestined, or before-ordained by grace, the Son of God in virtue, after the Spirit of hallowing of the again-rising of dead men, of Jesus Christ our Lord,]
5 I received God's grace because of what Jesus did so that I could bring glory to him. He made me an apostle to all those who aren't Jews. I must invite them to have faith in God and obey him.

7 I am sending this letter to all of you in Rome who are loved by God and appointed to be his people. May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.

to all that be at Rome, darlings of God, and called holy, grace to you [to all that be at Rome, the loved of God, called holy, grace be to you], and peace of God our Father, and of the Lord Jesus Christ.
8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you. People all over the world are talking about your faith.

First I do thankings to my God, by Jesus Christ, for all you, for your faith is showed in all the world.
9 I serve God with my whole heart. I preach the good news about his Son. God knows that I always remember you

For God is a witness to me, to whom I serve in my spirit, in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mind of you ever in my prayers [whom I serve in my spirit, in the gospel of his Son, for without ceasing I make mind of you evermore in my prayers],
10 in my prayers. I pray that now at last it may be God's plan to open the way for me to visit you.

and beseech [praying], if in any manner sometime I have a speedy way in the will of God to come to you.
11 I long to see you. I want to make you strong by giving you a gift from the Holy Spirit.

For I desire to see you, to part somewhat to you of spiritual grace [that I give to you something of spiritual grace], that ye be confirmed,
12 I want us to cheer each other up by sharing our faith.

that is, to be comforted together in you, by [that] faith that is both yours and mine together.
13 Brothers and sisters, I want you to know that I planned many times to visit you. But until now I have been kept from coming. My work has produced results among others who are not Jews. In the same way, I want to see results among you.

And, brethren, I will not, that ye not know [that ye unknow], that oft I purposed to come to you, and I am letted [and I am forbidden] till this time, that I have some fruit in you, as [and] in other folks.
14 I have a duty both to Greeks and to non-Greeks. I have a duty both to wise people and to foolish people.

To Greeks and to barbarians, to wise men and to unwise men, I am debtor,
15 So I really want to preach the good news also to you who live in Rome.

so that that is in me is ready to preach the gospel also to you that be at Rome.
16 I am not ashamed of the good news. It is God's power. And it will save everyone who believes. It is meant first for the Jews. It is meant also for those who aren't Jews.

For I shame not the gospel, for it is the virtue of God into health to each man that believeth, to the Jew first, and to the Greek.
17 The good news shows how God makes people right with himself. From beginning to end, becoming right with God depends on a person's faith. It is written, "Those who are right with God will live by faith."(Habakkuk 2:4)

For the rightwiseness of God is showed in it, of faith into faith, as it is written, For a just man liveth of faith.
18 God shows his anger from heaven. It is against all the godless and evil things people do. They are so evil that they say no to the truth.

For the wrath of God is showed from heaven on all unpiety and wickedness of those men, that withhold the truth of God in unrightwiseness. [Forsooth the wrath of God is showed from heaven upon all unpiety and unrightwiseness of those men, that withhold, or hold aback, the truth of God in unrightwiseness.]
19 The truth about God is plain to them. God has made it plain.

For that thing of God that is known, is showed to them [For that that is known of God is shown, or made open, to them], for God hath showed to them.
20 Ever since the world was created it has been possible to see the qualities of God that are not seen. I'm talking about his eternal power and about the fact that he is God. Those things can be seen in what he has made. So people have no excuse for what they do.

For the invisible things of him, that be understood, be beheld of the creature of the world, by those things that be made, yea, and the everlasting virtue of him and the Godhead, so that they may not be excused. [For the invisible things of him, of the creature of the world, by those things that be made, understood be beholden, and the everlasting virtue of him, and the Godhead, so that they be unexcusable.]
21 They knew God. But they didn't honor him as God. They didn't thank him. Their thinking became worthless. Their foolish hearts became dark.

For when they had known God, they glorified him not as God, neither did thankings; but they vanished in their thoughts, and the unwise heart of them was darked [was darked, or made dark].
22 They claimed to be wise. But they made fools of themselves.

For they saying that themselves were wise [Soothly they saying themselves to be wise men], they were made fools.
23 They would rather have statues of gods than the glorious God who lives forever. Their statues of gods are made to look like people, birds, animals and reptiles.

And they changed the glory of uncorruptible God into the likeness of an image of a deadly man [into the likeness of an image of corruptible man], and of birds, and of four-footed beasts, and of serpents.
24 So God let them go. He allowed them to do what their sinful hearts wanted to. He let them commit sexual sins. They polluted one another's bodies by what they did.

For which thing God betook them into the desires of their heart, into uncleanness, that they punish with wrongs their bodies in themselves.
25 They chose a lie instead of God's truth. They worshiped and served created things. They didn't worship the Creator. But he must be praised forever. Amen.

The which [men] changed the truth of God into lying, and praised and served a creature rather than the creator, that is blessed into worlds of worlds [that is blessed into worlds, or without end]. Amen.
26 So God let them go. They were filled with shameful longings. Their women committed sexual acts that were not natural.

Therefore God betook them into passions of shame [Therefore God betook them into passions of evil fame, or shame]. For the women of them changed the natural use into that use that is against kind.
27 In the same way, the men turned away from their natural love for women. They burned with sexual longing for each other. Men did shameful things with other men. They suffered in their bodies for all the twisted things they did.

Also the men [the males, or men,] forsook the natural use of woman, and burned in their desires together, and men into men wrought filthhood, and received into themselves the meed that behooved of their error [males into males working filthhood, and receiving in themselves the meed, or hire, that behooved of their error].
28 They didn't think it was important to know God. So God let them go. He allowed them to have dirty minds. They did things they shouldn't do.

And as they proved that they had not God in knowing [And as they proved not to have God in knowing], God betook them into a reprovable wit, that they do those things that be not suitable;
29 They are full of every kind of sin, evil and ungodliness. They want more than they need. They commit murder. They want what belongs to other people. They fight and cheat. They hate others. They say mean things about other people.

that they be full-filled with all wickedness [full-filled with all wickedness], malice, fornication, covetousness, waywardness, full of envy, manslayings [manslaying], strife, guile, evil will,
30 They tell lies about them. They hate God. They are rude and proud. They brag. They think of new ways to do evil. They don't obey their parents.

privy backbiters, detractors, hateful to God, debaters, proud, and high over measure [hateful to God, wrongful despisers, proud, high over measure], finders of evil things, not obedient to father and mother,
31 They are foolish. They can't be trusted. They are not loving and kind.

unwise, unmannerly, without love [without affection, or love], without bond of peace, without mercy.
32 They know that God's commands are right. They know that those who do evil things should die. But they continue to do those very things. They also approve of others who do them.

The which when they had known the rightwiseness of God, understood not, that they that do such things be worthy the death, not only they that do those things [not only they that do such things], but also they that consent to the doers.
