1 LODATE il Signore; Perciocchè egli è cosa buona e dilettevole di salmeggiar l’Iddio nostro; La lode è decevole.

Hallelujah! It is good to sing psalms to our God. It is pleasant to sing [his] praise beautifully.
2 Il Signore è quel ch’edifica Gerusalemme; Egli raccoglierà i dispersi d’Israele.

The LORD is the builder of Jerusalem. He is the one who gathers the outcasts of Israel together.
3 Egli è quel che guarisce quelli che hanno il cuor rotto, E fascia le lor doglie;

He is the healer of the brokenhearted. He is the one who bandages their wounds.
4 Che conta il numero delle stelle; Che le chiama tutte per li nomi loro.

He determines the number of stars. He gives each one a name.
5 Il nostro Signore è grande, e di gran forza; La sua intelligenza è infinita.

Our Lord is great, and his power is great. There is no limit to his understanding.
6 Il Signore solleva i mansueti; Ed abbatte gli empi fino a terra.

The LORD gives relief to those who are oppressed. He brings wicked people down to the ground.
7 Cantate al Signore con lode; Salmeggiate colla cetera all’Iddio nostro;

Sing to the LORD a song of thanksgiving. Make music to our God with a lyre.
8 Il qual copre il cielo di nuvole, Ed apparecchia la pioggia alla terra, E fa che i monti producono l’erba.

He covers the sky with clouds. He provides rain for the ground. He makes grass grow on the mountains.
9 Che dà la sua pastura al bestiame. A’ figli de’ corvi, che gridano.

He is the one who gives food to animals and to young ravens when they call out.
10 Egli non si compiace nella forza del cavallo; Egli non gradisce le gambe dell’uomo.

He finds no joy in strong horses, nor is he pleased by brave soldiers.
11 Il Signore gradisce quelli che lo temono, Quelli che sperano nella sua benignità.

The LORD is pleased with those who fear him, with those who wait with hope for his mercy.
12 Gerusalemme, celebra il Signore; Sion, loda il tuo Dio.

Praise the LORD, Jerusalem! Praise your God, Zion!
13 Perciocchè egli rinforza le sbarre delle tue porte; Egli benedice i tuoi figliuoli in mezzo di te.

He makes the bars across your gates strong. He blesses the children within you.
14 Egli è quel che mantiene il tuo paese in pace; Che ti sazia di grascia di frumento;

He is the one who brings peace to your borders and satisfies your [hunger] with the finest wheat.
15 Che manda il suo dire in terra; E la sua parola corre velocissimamente;

He is the one who sends his promise throughout the earth. His word travels with great speed.
16 Che manda la neve a guisa di lana; Che sparge la brina a guisa di cenere;

He is the one who sends snow like wool and scatters frost like ashes.
17 Che getta il suo ghiaccio come per pezzi; E chi potrà durar davanti al suo freddo?

He is the one who throws his hailstones like breadcrumbs. Who can withstand his chilling blast?
18 Egli manda la sua parola, e fa struggere quelle cose; Egli fa soffiare il suo vento, è le acque corrono.

He sends out his word and melts his hailstones. He makes wind blow [and] water flow.
19 Egli annunzia le sue parole a Giacobbe; I suoi statuti e le sue leggi ad Israele.

He speaks his word to Jacob, his laws and judicial decisions to Israel.
20 Egli non ha fatto così a tutte le genti; Ed esse non conoscono le sue leggi. Alleluia.

He has done nothing like this for any other nation. The other nations do not know the decisions he has handed down. Hallelujah!
