1 Orazione di Davide GUARDAMI, o Dio; perciocchè io mi confido in te.

2 Io ho detto all’Eterno: Tu sei il mio Signore; Io non ho bene all’infuori di te.

3 Tutta la mia affezione è inverso i santi che sono in terra, E inverso gli uomini onorati.

4 I tormenti di coloro che corrono dietro ad altri dii, saran moltiplicati; Io non farò le loro offerte da spandere, che son di sangue; E non mi recherò nelle labbra i nomi loro.

5 Il Signore è la porzione della mia parte, e il mio calice; Tu, Signore, mantieni quello che mi è scaduto in sorte.

6 La sorte mi è scaduta in luoghi dilettevoli; Una bella eredità mi è pur toccata.

7 Io benedirò il Signore, il qual mi consiglia; Eziandio le notti le mie reni mi ammaestrano.

8 Io ho sempre posto il Signore davanti agli occhi miei; Perciocchè egli è alla mia destra, io non sarò giammai smosso.

9 Perciò il mio cuore si rallegra, e la mia lingua festeggia; Anzi pur la mia carne abiterà in sicurtà.

10 Perciocchè tu non lascerai l’anima mia nel sepolcro, E non permetterai che il tuo Santo senta la corruzione della fossa.

11 Tu mi mostrerai il sentier della vita; Sazietà d’ogni gioia è col tuo volto; Ogni diletto è nella tua destra in sempiterno.

1 Protect me, O God; I trust in you for safety.

2 I say to the Lord, "You are my Lord; all the good things I have come from you."

3 How excellent are the Lord's faithful people! My greatest pleasure is to be with them.

4 Those who rush to other gods bring many troubles on themselves. I will not take part in their sacrifices; I will not worship their gods.

5 You, Lord, are all I have, and you give me all I need; my future is in your hands.

6 How wonderful are your gifts to me; how good they are!

7 I praise the Lord, because he guides me, and in the night my conscience warns me.

8 I am always aware of the Lord's presence; he is near, and nothing can shake me.

9 And so I am thankful and glad, and I feel completely secure,

10 because you protect me from the power of death. I have served you faithfully, and you will not abandon me to the world of the dead.

11 You will show me the path that leads to life; your presence fills me with joy and brings me pleasure forever.
