1 Salmo di Davide, dato al capo de’ Musici, sopra Aielet-hassahar DIO mio, Dio mio, perchè mi hai lasciato? Perchè stai lontano dalla mia salute, e dalle parole del mio ruggire?

2 O Dio mio, io grido di giorno, e tu non rispondi; Di notte ancora, e non ho posa alcuna.

3 E pur tu sei il Santo, Il Permanente, le lodi d’Israele.

4 I nostri padri si son confidati in te; Si son confidati in te, e tu li hai liberati.

5 Gridarono a te, e furon liberati; In te si confidarono, e non furon confusi.

6 Ma io sono un verme, e non un uomo; Il vituperio degli uomini, e lo sprezzato fra il popolo.

7 Chiunque mi vede, si beffa di me, Mi stende il labbro, e scuote il capo;

8 Dicendo: Egli si rimette nel Signore; liberilo dunque; Riscuotalo, poichè egli lo gradisce.

9 Certo, tu sei quel che mi hai tratto fuor del seno; Tu mi hai affidato da che io era alle mammelle di mia madre.

10 Io fui gettato sopra te dalla matrice; Tu sei il mio Dio fin dal seno di mia madre.

11 Non allontanarti da me; perciocchè l’angoscia è vicina, E non vi è alcuno che mi aiuti.

12 Grandi tori mi hanno circondato; Possenti tori di Basan mi hanno intorniato;

13 Hanno aperta la lor gola contro a me, Come un leone rapace e ruggente.

14 Io mi scolo come acqua, E tutte le mie ossa si scommettono; Il mio cuore è come cera, E si strugge nel mezzo delle mie interiora.

15 Il mio vigore è asciutto come un testo, E la mia lingua è attaccata alla mia gola; Tu mi hai posto nella polvere della morte.

16 Perciocchè cani mi hanno circondato; Uno stuolo di maligni mi ha intorniato; Essi mi hanno forate le mani ed i piedi.

17 Io posso contar tutte le mie ossa; Essi mi riguardano, e mi considerano.

18 Si spartiscono fra loro i miei vestimenti, E tranno la sorte sopra la mia vesta.

19 Tu dunque, Signore, non allontanarti; Tu che sei la mia forza, affrettati a soccorrermi.

20 Riscuoti l’anima mia dalla spada, L’unica mia dalla branca del cane.

21 Salvami dalla gola del leone, Ed esaudiscimi, liberandomi dalle corna de’ liocorni.

22 Io racconterò il tuo Nome a’ miei fratelli; Io ti loderò in mezzo della raunanza.

23 Voi che temete il Signore, lodatelo; Glorificatelo voi, tutta la progenie di Giacobbe; E voi tutta la generazione d’Israele, abbiate timor di lui.

24 Perciocchè egli non ha sprezzata, nè disdegnata l’afflizione dell’afflitto; E non ha nascosta la sua faccia da lui; E quando ha gridato a lui, l’ha esaudito.

25 Da te io ho l’argomento della mia lode in grande raunanza; Io adempirò i miei voti in presenza di quelli che ti temono.

26 I mansueti mangeranno, e saranno saziati; Que’ che cercano il Signore lo loderanno; Il vostro cuore viverà in perpetuo.

27 Tutte le estremità della terra ne avranno memoria, E si convertiranno al Signore; E tutte le nazioni delle genti adoreranno nel suo cospetto.

28 Perciocchè al Signore appartiene il regno; Ed egli è quel che signoreggia sopra le genti.

29 Tutti i grassi della terra mangeranno ed adoreranno; Parimente tutti quelli che scendono nella polvere, E che non possono mantenersi in vita, s’inchineranno davanti a lui.

30 La lor posterità gli servirà; Ella sarà annoverata per generazione al Signore.

31 Essi verranno, ed annunzieranno la sua giustizia; Ed alla gente che ha da nascere ciò ch’egli avrà operato.

Good News Translation GNT

1 My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? I have cried desperately for help, but still it does not come.

2 During the day I call to you, my God, but you do not answer; I call at night, but get no rest.

3 But you are enthroned as the Holy One, the one whom Israel praises.

4 Our ancestors put their trust in you; they trusted you, and you saved them.

5 They called to you and escaped from danger; they trusted you and were not disappointed.

6 But I am no longer a human being; I am a worm, despised and scorned by everyone!

7 All who see me make fun of me; they stick out their tongues and shake their heads.

8 "You relied on the Lord," they say. "Why doesn't he save you? If the Lord likes you, why doesn't he help you?"

9 It was you who brought me safely through birth, and when I was a baby, you kept me safe.

10 I have relied on you since the day I was born, and you have always been my God.

11 Do not stay away from me! Trouble is near, and there is no one to help.

12 Many enemies surround me like bulls; they are all around me, like fierce bulls from the land of Bashan.

13 They open their mouths like lions, roaring and tearing at me.

14 My strength is gone, gone like water spilled on the ground. All my bones are out of joint; my heart is like melted wax.

15 My throat is as dry as dust, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You have left me for dead in the dust.

16 An evil gang is around me; like a pack of dogs they close in on me; they tear at my hands and feet.

17 All my bones can be seen. My enemies look at me and stare.

18 They gamble for my clothes and divide them among themselves.

19 O Lord, don't stay away from me! Come quickly to my rescue!

20 Save me from the sword; save my life from these dogs.

21 Rescue me from these lions; I am helpless before these wild bulls.

22 I will tell my people what you have done; I will praise you in their assembly:

23 "Praise him, you servants of the Lord! Honor him, you descendants of Jacob! Worship him, you people of Israel!

24 He does not neglect the poor or ignore their suffering; he does not turn away from them, but answers when they call for help."

25 In the full assembly I will praise you for what you have done; in the presence of those who worship you I will offer the sacrifices I promised.

26 The poor will eat as much as they want; those who come to the Lord will praise him. May they prosper forever!

27 All nations will remember the Lord. From every part of the world they will turn to him; all races will worship him.

28 The Lord is king, and he rules the nations.

29 All proud people will bow down to him; all mortals will bow down before him.

30 Future generations will serve him; they will speak of the Lord to the coming generation.

31 People not yet born will be told: "The Lord saved his people."
