1 Salmo di Davide, dato al capo de’ Musici IO ho lungamente e pazientemente aspettato il Signore; Ed egli si è inchinato a me, ed ha ascoltato il mio grido;

2 E mi ha tratto fuor di una fossa ruinosa, Di un fango pantanoso; Ed ha rizzati i miei piedi sopra una roccia, Ed ha fermati i miei passi.

3 Ed ha messo nella mia bocca un nuovo cantico Per lode dell’Iddio nostro; Molti vedranno questo, e temeranno, E si confideranno nel Signore.

4 Beato l’uomo che ha posto il Signore per sua confidanza; E non riguarda a’ possenti superbi, Nè a quelli che si rivolgono dietro a menzogna.

5 Signore Iddio mio, tu fai grandi le tue maraviglie; E i tuoi pensieri inverso noi Non ponno per alcuna maniera esserti spiegati per ordine; Se io imprendo di narrarli e di parlarne, Son tanti che io non posso annoverarli.

6 Tu non prendi piacere in sacrificio, nè in offerta; Tu mi hai forate le orecchie; Tu non hai chiesto, olocausto, nè sacrificio per lo peccato.

7 Allora io ho detto: Eccomi venuto; Egli è scritto di me nel volume del Libro.

8 Dio mio, io prendo piacere in far la tua volontà; E la tua Legge è nel mezzo delle mie interiora.

9 Io ho predicata la tua giustizia in gran raunanza; Ecco io non ho rattenute le mie labbra; Tu lo sai, Signore.

10 Io non ho nascosta la tua giustizia dentro al mio cuore; Io ho narrata la tua verità e la tua salute; Io non ho celata la tua benignità, nè la tua verità, In gran raunanza.

11 Tu, Signore, non rattenere inverso me le tue compassioni; Guardinmi del continuo la tua benignità e la tua verità.

12 Perciocchè mali innumerabili mi hanno circondato; Le mie iniquità mi hanno giunto, E pur non le posso vedere; Sono in maggior numero che i capelli del mio capo, Onde il cuor mi vien meno.

13 Piacciati, Signore, liberarmi; Signore, affrettati in mio aiuto.

14 Quelli che cercano l’anima mia, per farla perire, Sieno confusi, e svergognati tutti quanti; Quelli che prendono piacere nel mio male, Voltino le spalle, e sieno svergognati.

15 Quelli che mi dicono: Eia, eia! Sieno distrutti, per ricompensa del vituperio che mi fanno.

16 Rallegrinsi, e gioiscano in te tutti quelli chi ti cercano; Quelli che amano la tua salute dicano del continuo: Magnificato sia il Signore.

17 Quanto è a me, io son povero, e bisognoso; Ma pure il Signore ha cura di me; Tu sei il mio aiuto e il mio liberatore; O Dio mio, non tardare.

Good News Translation GNT

1 I waited patiently for the Lord's help; then he listened to me and heard my cry.

2 He pulled me out of a dangerous pit, out of the deadly quicksand. He set me safely on a rock and made me secure.

3 He taught me to sing a new song, a song of praise to our God. Many who see this will take warning and will put their trust in the Lord.

4 Happy are those who trust the Lord, who do not turn to idols or join those who worship false gods.

5 You have done many things for us, O Lord our God; there is no one like you! You have made many wonderful plans for us. I could never speak of them all - their number is so great!

6 You do not want sacrifices and offerings; you do not ask for animals burned whole on the altar or for sacrifices to take away sins. Instead, you have given me ears to hear you,

7 and so I answered, "Here I am; your instructions for me are in the book of the Law.

8 How I love to do your will, my God! I keep your teaching in my heart."

9 In the assembly of all your people, Lord, I told the good news that you save us. You know that I will never stop telling it.

10 I have not kept the news of salvation to myself; I have always spoken of your faithfulness and help. In the assembly of all your people I have not been silent about your loyalty and constant love.

11 Lord, I know you will never stop being merciful to me. Your love and loyalty will always keep me safe.

12 I am surrounded by many troubles - too many to count! My sins have caught up with me, and I can no longer see; they are more than the hairs of my head, and I have lost my courage.

13 Save me, Lord! Help me now!

14 May those who try to kill me be completely defeated and confused. May those who are happy because of my troubles be turned back and disgraced.

15 May those who make fun of me be dismayed by their defeat.

16 May all who come to you be glad and joyful. May all who are thankful for your salvation always say, "How great is the Lord!"

17 I am weak and poor, O Lord, but you have not forgotten me. You are my savior and my God - hurry to my aid!
