Psalm 6

1 Salmo di Davide, dato al capo de’ Musici, in Neghinot, sopra Seminit SIGNORE, non correggermi nella tua ira, E non gastigarmi nel tuo cruccio.

1 Lord, don't be angry and rebuke me! Don't punish me in your anger!

2 Abbi pietà di me, o Signore; perciocchè io son tutto fiacco; Sanami, Signore; perciocchè le mie ossa son tutte smarrite.

2 I am worn out, O Lord; have pity on me! Give me strength; I am completely exhausted

3 L’anima mia eziandio è grandemente smarrita; E tu, Signore, infino a quando?

3 and my whole being is deeply troubled. How long, O Lord, will you wait to help me?

4 Rivolgiti, o Signore; riscuoti l’anima mia; Salvami, per amor della tua benignità.

4 Come and save me, Lord; in your mercy rescue me from death.

5 Perciocchè nella morte non v’è memoria di te; Chi ti celebrerà nel sepolcro?

5 In the world of the dead you are not remembered; no one can praise you there.

6 Io mi affanno ne’ miei sospiri; Io allago tutta notte il mio letto, E bagno la mia lettiera colle mie lagrime.

6 I am worn out with grief; every night my bed is damp from my weeping; my pillow is soaked with tears.

7 L’occhio mio è consumato di fastidio; Egli è invecchiato per cagione di tutti i miei nemici.

7 I can hardly see; my eyes are so swollen from the weeping caused by my enemies.

8 Ritraetevi da me, voi tutti operatori d’iniquità; Perciocchè il Signore ha udita la voce del mio pianto.

8 Keep away from me, you evil people! The Lord hears my weeping;

9 Il Signore ha udita la mia supplicazione; Il Signore ha accettata la mia orazione.

9 he listens to my cry for help and will answer my prayer.

10 Tutti i miei nemici sieno confusi, e grandemente smarriti; Voltin le spalle, e sieno svergognati in un momento.

10 My enemies will know the bitter shame of defeat; in sudden confusion they will be driven away.
