1 Salmo di Davide, dato al capo de’ Musici, sopra Ghittit QUANT’è magnifico il nome tuo per tutta la terra, O Signore, Signor nostro, Che hai posta la tua maestà sopra i cieli!

2 Per la bocca de’ piccoli fanciulli, e di quelli che poppano, Tu hai fondata la tua gloria, per cagione de’ tuoi nemici, Per far restare il nemico e il vendicatore.

3 Quando io veggo i tuoi cieli, che sono opera delle tue dita; La luna e le stelle che tu hai disposte;

4 Io dico: Che cosa è l’uomo, che tu ne abbi memoria? E che cosa è il figliuolo dell’uomo, che tu ne prenda cura?

5 E che tu l’abbi fatto poco minor degli Angeli, E l’abbi coronato di gloria e d’onore?

6 E che tu lo faccia signoreggiare sopra le opere delle tue mani, Ed abbi posto ogni cosa sotto i suoi piedi?

7 Pecore e buoi tutti quanti, Ed anche le fiere della campagna,

8 Gli uccelli del cielo, e i pesci del mare, Che guizzano per li sentieri del mare.

9 O Signore, Signor nostro, Quanto è magnifico il Nome tuo in tutta la terra!

1 O Lord, our Lord, your greatness is seen in all the world! Your praise reaches up to the heavens;

2 it is sung by children and babies. You are safe and secure from all your enemies; you stop anyone who opposes you.

3 When I look at the sky, which you have made, at the moon and the stars, which you set in their places -

4 what are human beings, that you think of them; mere mortals, that you care for them?

5 Yet you made them inferior only to yourself; you crowned them with glory and honor.

6 You appointed them rulers over everything you made; you placed them over all creation:

7 sheep and cattle, and the wild animals too;

8 the birds and the fish and the creatures in the seas.

9 O Lord, our Lord, your greatness is seen in all the world!
