1 ALABAD á Jehová, porque es bueno; Porque para siempre es su misericordia.

O give praise to the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy is unchanging for ever.
2 Digan lo los redimidos de Jehová, Los que ha redimido del poder del enemigo,

Let those whose cause the Lord has taken up say so, his people whom he has taken out of the hands of their haters;
3 Y los ha congregado de las tierras, Del oriente y del occidente, Del aquilón y de la mar.

Making them come together out of all the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.
4 Anduvieron perdidos por el desierto, por la soledad sin camino, No hallando ciudad de población.

They were wandering in the waste places; they saw no way to a resting-place.
5 Hambrientos y sedientos, Su alma desfallecía en ellos.

Their souls became feeble for need of food and drink.
6 Habiendo empero clamado á Jehová en su angustia, Librólos de sus aflicciones:

Then they sent up their cry to the Lord in their sorrow, and he gave them salvation out of all their troubles;
7 Y dirigiólos por camino derecho, Para que viniesen á ciudad de población.

Guiding them in the right way, so that they might come into the town of their resting-place.
8 Alaben la misericordia de Jehová, Y sus maravillas para con los hijos de los hombres.

Let men give praise to the Lord for his mercy, and for the wonders which he does for the children of men!
9 Porque sació al alma menesterosa, Y llenó de bien al alma hambrienta.

He gives its desire to the unresting soul, so that it is full of good things.
10 Los que moraban en tinieblas y sombra de muerte, Aprisionados en aflicción y en hierros;

Those who were in the dark, in the black night, in chains of sorrow and iron;
11 Por cuanto fueron rebeldes á las palabras de Jehová, Y aborrecieron el consejo del Altísimo.

Because they went against the words of God, and gave no thought to the laws of the Most High:
12 Por lo que quebrantó él con trabajo sus corazones, Cayeron y no hubo quien los ayudase;

So that he made their hearts weighted down with grief; they were falling, and had no helper.
13 Luego que clamaron á Jehová en su angustia, Librólos de sus aflicciones.

Then they sent up their cry to the Lord in their sorrow, and he gave them salvation out of all their troubles.
14 Sacólos de las tinieblas y de la sombra de muerte, Y rompió sus prisiones.

He took them out of the dark and the black night, and all their chains were broken.
15 Alaben la misericordia de Jehová, Y sus maravillas para con los hijos de los hombres.

Let men give praise to the Lord for his mercy, and for the wonders which he does for the children of men!
16 Porque quebrantó las puertas de bronce, Y desmenuzó los cerrojos de hierro.

The doors of brass are broken by his arm, and the bands of iron are cut in two.
17 Los insensatos, á causa del camino de su rebelión Y á causa de sus maldades, fueron afligidos.

Foolish men, because of their sins, and because of their wrongdoing, are troubled;
18 Su alma abominó toda vianda, Y llegaron hasta las puertas de la muerte.

They are disgusted by all food, and they come near to the doors of death.
19 Mas clamaron á Jehová en su angustia, Y salvólos de sus aflicciones.

Then they send up their cry to the Lord in their sorrow, and he gives them salvation out of all their troubles.
20 Envió su palabra, y curólos, Y librólos de su ruina.

He sent his word and made them well, and kept them safe from the underworld.
21 Alaben la misericordia de Jehová, Y sus maravillas para con los hijos de los hombres:

Let men give praise to the Lord for his mercy, and for the wonders which he does for the children of men!
22 Y sacrifiquen sacrificios de alabanza, Y publiquen sus obras con júbilo.

Let them make offerings of praise, giving news of his works with cries of joy.
23 Los que descienden á la mar en navíos, Y hacen negocio en las muchas aguas,

Those who go down to the sea in ships, who do business in the great waters;
24 Ellos han visto las obras de Jehová, Y sus maravillas en el profundo.

They see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep.
25 El dijo, é hizo saltar el viento de la tempestad, Que levanta sus ondas.

For at his word comes up the storm-wind, lifting high the waves.
26 Suben á los cielos, descienden á los abismos: Sus almas se derriten con el mal.

The sailors go up to heaven, and down into the deep; their souls are wasted because of their trouble.
27 Tiemblan, y titubean como borrachos, Y toda su ciencia es perdida.
27
They are turned here and there, rolling like a man who is full of wine; and all their wisdom comes to nothing.
28 Claman empero á Jehová en su angustia, Y líbralos de sus aflicciones.

Then they send up their cry to the Lord in their sorrow, and he gives them salvation out of all their troubles.
29 Hace parar la tempestad en sosiego, Y se apaciguan sus ondas.

He makes the storm into a calm, so that the waves are at peace.
30 Alégranse luego porque se reposaron; Y él los guía al puerto que deseaban.

Then they are glad, because the sea is quiet, and he takes them to the harbour of their desire.
31 Alaben la misericordia de Jehová, Y sus maravillas para con los hijos de los hombres.

Let men give praise to the Lord for his mercy, and for the wonders which he does for the children of men!
32 Y ensálcenlo en la congregación del pueblo; Y en consistorio de ancianos lo alaben.

Let them give glory to him in the meeting of the people, and praise among the chiefs.
33 El vuelve los ríos en desierto, Y los manantiales de las aguas en secadales;

He makes rivers into waste places, and springs of water into a dry land;
34 La tierra fructífera en salados, Por la maldad de los que la habitan.

He makes a fertile country into a salt waste, because of the sins of those who are living there.
35 Vuelve el desierto en estanques de aguas, Y la tierra seca en manantiales.

He makes a waste land into a place of water, and a dry land into water-springs.
36 Y allí aposenta á los hambrientos, Y disponen ciudad para habitación;

And there he gives the poor a resting-place, so that they may make themselves a town;
37 Y siembran campos, y plantan viñas, Y rinden crecido fruto.

And put seed in the fields and make vine-gardens, to give them fruit.
38 Y los bendice, y se multiplican en gran manera; Y no disminuye sus bestias.

He gives them his blessing so that they are increased greatly, and their cattle do not become less.
39 Y luego son menoscabados y abatidos A causa de tiranía, de males y congojas.

And when they are made low, and crushed by trouble and sorrow,
40 El derrama menosprecio sobre los príncipes, Y les hace andar errados, vagabundos, sin camino:

He puts an end to the pride of kings, and sends them wandering in the waste lands where there is no way.
41 Y levanta al pobre de la miseria, Y hace multiplicar las familias como rebaños de ovejas.

But he puts the poor man on high from his troubles, and gives him families like a flock.
42 Vean los rectos, y alégrense; Y toda maldad cierre su boca.

The upright see it and are glad: the mouth of the sinner is stopped.
43 ¿Quién es sabio y guardará estas cosas, Y entenderá las misericordias de Jehová?

Let the wise give thought to these things, and see the mercies of the Lord.
