Psalm 83

1 Oh Dios, no permanezcas en silencio; no calles, oh Dios, ni te quedes quieto.

1 God, don't shut me out; don't give me the silent treatment, O God.

2 Porque, he aquí, tus enemigos rugen, y los que te aborrecen se han enaltecido.

2 Your enemies are out there whooping it up, the God-haters are living it up;

3 Hacen planes astutos contra tu pueblo, y juntos conspiran contra tus protegidos.

3 They're plotting to do your people in, conspiring to rob you of your precious ones.

4 Han dicho: Venid, y destruyámoslos como nación, para que ya no haya memoria del nombre de Israel.

4 "Let's wipe this nation from the face of the earth," they say; "scratch Israel's name off the books."

5 Porque de corazón han conspirado a una; hacen pacto contra ti:

5 And now they're putting their heads together, making plans to get rid of you.

6 las tiendas de Edom y de los ismaelitas, Moab y los agarenos,

6 Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites,

7 Gebal, Amón y Amalec, Filistea con los habitantes de Tiro;

7 Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia and the Tyrians,

8 Asiria también se ha unido a ellos; se han convertido en ayuda para los hijos de Lot. (Selah)

8 And now Assyria has joined up, Giving muscle to the gang of Lot.

9 Trátalos como a Madián, como a Sísara, como a Jabín en el torrente Cisón,

9 Do to them what you did to Midian, to Sisera and Jabin at Kishon Brook;

10 que fueron destruidos en Endor, que quedaron como estiércol para la tierra.

10 They came to a bad end at Endor, nothing but dung for the garden.

11 Pon a sus nobles como a Oreb y Zeeb, y a todos sus príncipes como a Zeba y Zalmuna,

11 Cut down their leaders as you did Oreb and Zeeb, their princes to nothings like Zebah and Zalmunna,

12 que dijeron: apoderémonos de los prados de Dios.

12 With their empty brags, "We're grabbing it all, grabbing God's gardens for ourselves."

13 Oh Dios mío, ponlos como polvo en remolino; como paja ante el viento.

13 My God! I've had it with them! Blow them away! Tumbleweeds in the desert waste,

14 Como fuego que consume el bosque, y como llama que incendia las montañas,

14 charred sticks in the burned-over ground.

15 así persíguelos con tu tempestad, y aterrorízalos con tu torbellino.

15 Knock the breath right out of them, so they're gasping

16 Cubre sus rostros de ignominia, para que busquen tu nombre, oh SEÑOR.

16 for breath, gasping, "God."

17 Sean avergonzados y turbados para siempre; sean humillados y perezcan,

17 Bring them to the end of their rope, and leave them there dangling, helpless.

18 para que sepan que sólo tú, que te llamas el SEÑOR, eres el Altísimo sobre toda la tierra.

18 Then they'll learn your name: "God," the one and only High God on earth.
