Holman Christian Standard Bible CSB
1 How beautiful are thy feet in sandals, O prince's daughter! Thy rounded thighs are like jewels, The work of the hands of a skilful workman.
1
How beautiful are your sandaled feet, princess! The curves of your thighs are like jewelry, the handiwork of a master.
2 Thy body is [like] a round goblet, [Wherein] no mingled wine is wanting: Thy waist is [like] a heap of wheat Set about with lilies.
2
Your navel is a rounded bowl; it never lacks mixed wine. Your waist is a mound of wheat surrounded by lilies.
3 Thy two breasts are like two fawns That are twins of a roe.
3
Your breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle.
4 Thy neck is like the tower of ivory; Thine eyes [as] the pools in Heshbon, By the gate of Bath-rabbim; Thy nose is like the tower of Lebanon Which looketh toward Damascus.
4
Your neck is like a tower of ivory, your eyes like pools in Heshbon by the gate of Bath-rabbim. Your nose is like the tower of Lebanon looking toward Damascus.
5 Thy head upon thee is like Carmel, And the hair of thy head like purple; The king is held captive in the tresses [thereof].
5
Your head crowns you like Mount Carmel, the hair of your head like purple cloth- a king could be held captive in your tresses.
6 How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, for delights!
6
How beautiful you are and how pleasant, [my] love, with such delights!
7 This thy stature is like to a palm-tree, And thy breasts to its clusters.
7
Your stature is like a palm tree; your breasts are clusters [of fruit].
8 I said, I will climb up into the palm-tree, I will take hold of the branches thereof: Let thy breasts be as clusters of the vine, And the smell of thy breath like apples,
8
I said, "I will climb the palm tree and take hold of its fruit." May your breasts be like clusters of grapes, and the fragrance of your breath like apricots.
9 And thy mouth like the best wine, That goeth down smoothly for my beloved, Gliding through the lips of those that are asleep.
9
Your mouth is like fine wine- flowing smoothly for my love gliding past my lips and teeth!
10 I am my beloved's; And his desire is toward me.
10
I belong to my love, and his desire is for me.
11 Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field; Let us lodge in the villages.
11
Come, my love, let's go to the field; let's spend the night among the henna blossoms.
12 Let us get up early to the vineyards; Let us see whether the vine hath budded, [And] its blossom is open, [And] the pomegranates are in flower: There will I give thee my love.
12
Let's go early to the vineyards; let's see if the vine has budded, if the blossom has opened, if the pomegranates are in bloom. There I will give you my love.
13 The mandrakes give forth fragrance; And at our doors are all manner of precious fruits, new and old, Which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved.
13
The mandrakes give off a fragrance, and at our doors is every delicacy- new as well as old. I have treasured them up for you, my love.
