Deuteronomio 11:4-14

4 e ciò ch’egli ha fatto all’esercito dell’Egitto, a’ suoi cavalli e a’ suoi carri; come egli fece traboccar l’acque del mar rosso sopra loro quando essi vi perseguivano; e come egli li fece perire fino al dì d’oggi;

5 e ciò ch’egli ha fatto a voi stessi nel deserto, finchè siate pervenuti a questo luogo;

6 e ciò ch’egli ha fatto a Datan e ad Abiram, figliuoli d’Eliab, figliuoli di Ruben; come la terra aperse la sua bocca e li tranghiottì, insieme con le lor case e le lor tende, e tutte le anime viventi ch’aveano a lor seguito, in mezzo di tutto Israele.

7 Conciossiachè gli occhi vostri abbiano vedute tutte le grandi opere del Signore le quali egli ha fatte.

8 E osservate tutti i comandamenti i quali oggi vi do; acciocchè siate fortificati ed entriate in possessione del paese al quale voi passate per possederlo;

9 e acciocchè prolunghiate i vostri giorni sopra la terra, la quale il Signore giurò a’ vostri padri di darla loro e alla lor progenie; terra stillante latte e miele.

10 Perciocchè il paese, nel qual tu entri per possederlo, non è come il paese di Egitto, onde voi siete usciti: dove, avendo seminata la tua semenza, tu l’adacquavi col piè come un orto da erbe.

11 Ma il paese, al quale voi passate per possederlo, è un paese di monti e di valli, inaffiato d’acqua secondo che piove dal cielo;

12 un paese, del quale il Signore Iddio tuo ha cura; sopra il quale gli occhi del Signore Iddio tuo sono del continuo, dal principio dell’anno infino al fine.

13 E avverrà, se voi del tutto ubbidite a’ miei comandamenti, i quali oggi vi do, amando il Signore Iddio vostro e servendogli con tutto il vostro cuore e con tutta l’anima vostra;

14 che io darò al vostro paese la sua pioggia al suo tempo, la pioggia della prima e dell’ultima stagione; e voi ricoglierete il vostro frumento, il vostro mosto e il vostro olio.

INTRODUCTION TO DEUTERONOMY 11

In this chapter, the exhortation to love the Lord, and keep his commands, is repeated and urged again and again from various considerations; as not only from the chastisement of Pharaoh and the wicked Egyptians, but of such Israelites who offended the Lord, and transgressed his law, De 12:1-7, from the goodness and excellency of the land they were going to inherit, De 11:8-11, from the blessing of rain that would come upon it, and be productive of all good things for man and beast, in case of obedience, and a restraint of it in case of disobedience, De 11:12-17, from the continuance of them and their offspring in the land, should they be careful to observe the commands themselves, and teach them their children, De 11:18-21, and from the extensiveness of their conquests and dominions, De 11:22-25 and from the different issue and effects of their conduct and behaviour, a blessing upon them if obedient, but a curse if disobedient, De 11:26-28 and the chapter is concluded with an exhortation to pronounce the blessing on Mount Gerizim, and the curse on Mount Ebal; the situation of which places is described when they should come into the land of Canaan, of which they are assured, De 11:29-32.
