Ezekiel 25:12

Thus saith the Lord God
Concerning Seir or the Edomites, the prophecy concerning the Moabites being finished: because that Edom hath dealt against the house of Judah by taking
vengeance:
or, "revenging a revenge" ^F23; the Edomites bore an old grudge against the Jews, not only because their father Jacob had got the birthright and blessing from their father Esau; but because they were made tributaries to them in David's time, and afterwards severely chastised by Amaziah; these things they laid up in their minds, and vowed revenge whenever they had an opportunity; and now one offered at the destruction of Jerusalem, which they took: and hath greatly offended, and revenged himself upon them:
not only by rejoicing at the destruction of the Jews, but by encouraging the Babylonians in it; assisting them therein, joining with them in plundering the city, and in cutting off those with the sword who endeavoured to make their escape; see ( Psalms 137:7 ) ( Obadiah 1:12-14 ) .

10 aprirò il fianco di Moab ai figliuoli dell’Oriente, nello stesso modo che aprirò loro il fianco de’ figliuoli d’Ammon; e darò questi paesi in loro possesso, affinché i figliuoli d’Ammon non sian più mentovati fra le nazioni;

11 ed eserciterò i miei giudizi su Moab, ed essi conosceranno che io sono l’Eterno.

12 Così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Poiché quelli d’Edom si sono crudelmente vendicati della casa di Giuda e si sono resi gravemente colpevoli vendicandosi d’essa,

13 così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Io stenderò la mia mano contro Edom, sterminerò uomini e bestie, ne farò un deserto fino da Theman, e fino a Dedan cadranno per la spada.

14 E rimetterò la mia vendetta sopra Edom nelle mani del mio popolo d’Israele; esso tratterà Edom secondo la mia ira e secondo il mio furore; ed essi conosceranno la mia vendetta, dice il Signore, l’Eterno.
