Proverbi 14:5-15

5 Il testimonio fedele non mentisce, ma il testimonio falso spaccia menzogne.

6 Il beffardo cerca la sapienza e non la trova, ma per l’uomo intelligente la scienza è cosa facile.

7 Vattene lungi dallo stolto; sulle sue labbra certo non hai trovato scienza.

8 La sapienza dell’uomo accorto sta nel discernere la propria strada, ma la follia degli stolti non è che inganno.

9 Gli insensati si burlano delle colpe commesse, ma il favore dell’Eterno sta fra gli uomini retti.

10 Il cuore conosce la sua propria amarezza, e alla sua gioia non può prender parte un estraneo.

11 La casa degli empi sarà distrutta, ma la tenda degli uomini retti fiorirà.

12 V’è tal via che all’uomo par diritta, ma finisce col menare alla morte.

13 Anche ridendo, il cuore può esser triste; e l’allegrezza può finire in dolore.

14 Lo sviato di cuore avrà la ricompensa dal suo modo di vivere, e l’uomo dabbene, quella delle opere sue.

15 Lo scemo crede tutto quel che si dice, ma l’uomo prudente bada ai suoi passi.

INTRODUCTION TO FIRST KINGS 4

As in the preceding chapter we have a proof of the wisdom and understanding which the Lord gave to Solomon, as promised, so in this an account is given of the riches and honour he was possessed of; of him, as king over all Israel, and of his princes, 1Ki 4:1-6; of the providers of food for his household in the several parts of the land, 1Ki 4:7-19; of the largeness and extent of his dominions, and of the peace and prosperity thereof, 1Ki 4:20,21,24,25; of his daily provisions for his household and for his cattle, 1Ki 4:22,23,26-28; and of his superior wisdom and knowledge to all others in all nations, which brought some out of all to hear it, 1Ki 4:29-34.
