Psalm 87:2-7

2 Egli ama le porte di Sion più di tutte le dimore di Giacobbe.

3 Cose gloriose son dette di te, o città di Dio! Sela.

4 Io mentoverò l’Egitto e Babilonia fra quelli che mi conoscono: Ecco la Filistia e Tiro, con l’Etiopia: Ciascun d’essi è nato in Sion!

5 E si dirà di Sion: Questo qui e quello là son nati in lei; e l’Altissimo stesso la renderà stabile.

6 L’Eterno iscriverà, passando in rassegna i popoli: Questo è nato là. Sela.

7 E cantando e danzando diranno: Tutte le fonti della mia gioia sono in te.

INTRODUCTION TO PSALM 87

Whether this psalm was composed by David, in a view of the temple to be built by his son Solomon; or whether by one that returned from the Babylonish captivity, who wrote it for the comfort of those that wept at the laying of the foundation of the second temple; it seems evident that the subject matter of it is the church of God in Gospel times, and especially in the latter day glory: the title in the Syriac version is, ``concerning the redemption of Jerusalem.''
